- SPL is seeking a highly experienced Vice President – Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) to lead the organization’s HSE vision, regulatory compliance programs, and continuous improvement initiatives from our Houston, TX headquarters. In this role, you will serve as the senior HSE authority, partnering with executive leadership, operational teams, and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure safe, sustainable, and compliant operations across all business units.

- What You’ll Do
- Develop, communicate, and execute the companywide HSE strategy, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and industry best practices;
- Provide executive leadership on HSE initiatives, regulatory compliance, and emerging risks;
- Establish HSE performance metrics, accountability systems, and long-term program goals;
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and state/local regulatory requirements across all sites and operations;
- Lead enterprise incident management, including investigations, root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and reporting;
- Oversee environmental programs, industrial hygiene, exposure assessments, and emergency response systems;
- Implement and advance digital HSE platforms, reporting tools, and technology-enabled safety systems;
- Engage regularly with leadership, field teams, clients, and regulators to communicate expectations and resolve complex issues;
- Foster a proactive and transparent safety culture across the company;
- Lead and mentor HSE team members, ensuring capability development, consistency, and succession planning;
- Collaborate with Operations, Quality, HR, and other departments to embed HSE into organizational decision-making;
- Monitor HSE data and trends to drive continuous improvement and system enhancements;
- Manage HSE budgets, programs, audits, and compliance initiatives;
- Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of the position and training provided.

- Requirements
- What You’ll Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field (required); Master’s degree in a relevant discipline (preferred);
- Minimum of ten (10) years of progressive HSE leadership experience, including five (5) years in a senior or executive role;
- Professional certifications such as CSP, CIH, CHMM, or PE (preferred);
- Proven experience leading HSE strategy and transformation within oil and gas, hydrocarbon processing, industrial testing, or environmental laboratory sectors;
- Deep knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, and related regulatory frameworks;
- Demonstrated expertise in risk management, incident prevention, and safety culture development;
- Experience implementing digital HSE tools, platforms, and data systems;
- Strong leadership, communication, and executive presence;
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive large-scale continuous improvement.
- Your Schedule & The Fine Print
- Full-time position;
- Flexibility to work extended or irregular hours as needed to address urgent incidents or regulatory requirements;
- Ability to travel up to 30% to company sites, client locations, and regulatory meetings.
