We’re an early-stage startup building an AI-enhanced coding environment that helps developers work faster and smarter. The interface will take inspiration from modern IDEs like VS Code, combining familiar developer workflows with AI-driven assistance such as intelligent code suggestions, command palette automation, and context-aware actions. We’re looking for an experienced UI/UX Designer who understands developer productivity tools and can design a clean, high-performance, keyboard-friendly interface that feels native to a coding environment. 🔹 Scope of Work You’ll work closely with our product and engineering team to: Design the application interface, including: Command palette and quick-action menus Sidebars and panels for files, tools, and AI insights Editor area mock-ups (integrating with a code view) Tabs, status bar, dialogs, toasts, and popovers Establish a design system, covering: Theme variables (light/dark) Iconography and color mapping for a developer context Reusable components (built for frameworks like shadcn/ui, Radix UI, or Tailwind CSS) Clear spacing, typography, and interaction standards Prototype user flows, such as: AI interaction (prompt → inline code suggestion → approval) Command palette actions Notifications, modals, and inline tooltips Deliver developer-ready assets and clear design documentation. 🔹 Deliverables Figma (or similar) interactive prototype Component library aligned to Tailwind/Radix structure Design tokens and color themes Design documentation for engineering hand-off 🔹 Ideal Candidate Experience designing developer tools, IDE plugins, or technical SaaS products Deep familiarity with VS Code’s UX patterns or other IDEs Skilled in designing dark-mode first, dense information UIs Strong understanding of accessibility and keyboard navigation Experience with Tailwind, Radix UI, or component-based design systems Proficient with Figma (auto-layout, variants, components) Excellent communication and documentation habits 🔹 Nice-to-Have Familiarity with React implementation Experience designing for AI or LLM-based products Knowledge of theming via CSS variables or token systems 🔹 Project Details Engagement: Contract / Freelance (4–6 weeks initial) Budget: Open (based on experience and scope) Collaboration: Remote / async with weekly check-ins Start: Immediate 🔹 How to Apply Please include: A short intro about your relevant experience Portfolio or Figma links showing similar products (developer tools, dashboards, technical UX) Any design systems or component libraries you’ve built
