Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Utility Technical Project Manager with strong expertise in electrical power distribution and transmission projects to lead and deliver large-scale utility infrastructure initiatives. The ideal candidate will bring a blend of technical knowledge, utility operations experience, and strong project execution skills. Candidates with prior experience working at or with Exelon or similar investor-owned utilities will be given strong preference.
Duties
- Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of electrical transmission and distribution (T&D) projects, ensuring alignment with utility regulations, safety standards, and organizational goals.
Manage scope, schedule, budget, and resource planning across complex capital and maintenance projects.
Coordinate cross-functional teams, including engineering, field operations, permitting, procurement, and third-party contractors.
Interface with utility clients (e.g., Exelon or similar), regulators, and local agencies to ensure compliance with project requirements and regulatory guidelines.
Track and manage project milestones, risk assessments, mitigation strategies, and progress reporting.
Drive adherence to safety, reliability, and quality assurance protocols throughout all phases of the project.
Support capital planning and prioritization of infrastructure upgrades for substations, feeders, overhead/underground lines, and SCADA integration.
Develop and maintain project documentation including work breakdown structures (WBS), project schedules (Primavera/MS Project), status reports, and technical summaries.
Foster continuous improvement, innovation, and performance monitoring within the project delivery framework.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or related technical field; PMP certification preferred.
7+ years of experience in utility-scale electrical transmission and/or distribution project management.
Strong understanding of electric utility operations, grid modernization, load forecasting, and regulatory compliance.
Prior experience working with or for Exelon, or similar utilities (e.g., PECO, ComEd, BGE, PSE&G, etc.) highly preferred.
Proven success managing cross-discipline technical teams and multi-million-dollar capital projects.
Familiarity with NERC/FERC standards, utility interconnection processes, and permitting for energy infrastructure.
Proficient in project management tools such as Primavera P6, MS Project, and reporting dashboards (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
Exceptional communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with distribution automation, AMI, DER integration, or utility data analytics.
Knowledge of SCADA, GIS, and asset management systems (e.g., Maximo).
PE license or advanced technical certifications a plus.
Job Types: Part-time, Contract
Pay: $85,536.20 - $114,011.34 per year
