Inside the Role Interns will gain knowledge and experience through exciting and real-life learning opportunities. We are looking for high performing and motivated individuals in various areas within DTNA organizations. DTNA internships begin each summer in May or June. Interns in this role may have the opportunity to transition into a full-time position subject to manager evaluations and business availability. The Supply Chain Optimization Intern will join our Procurement and Supply Organization to help develop/implement strategies aimed at improving operational performance and reducing costs. This intern will support the following groups/workstreams: 1) The transportation group, responsible for managing DTNA’s transportation network, which includes a variety of functions related to freight management. This team works on optimizing the transportation network to ensure timely delivery, while meeting operational and cost targets. 2) The 3PL Network (procurement, warehousing, cross-docks. etc.), responsible for managing the operational performance within the 3PL network to primarily support the truck plants. This network includes 14+ warehouses and 6+ cross docks in North America. 3) The Packaging group, responsible for ensuring all parts within the DTNA network have an approved packaging concept. In addition, the team manages the returnable packaging inventory within the network to ensure suppliers are able to meet their shipping requirements Posting Information We provide a scheduled posting end date to assist our candidates with their application planning. Benefits include: Professional development and networking events, including resume reviews/mock interviews Housing and transportation stipend Employee resource groups Event ticket offering (based on corporate availability) Company social events What You Drive at DTNA Determine service level requirements for ocean container and international air parcel shipments based on business needs in collaboration with Material Planning and Purchasing. Support the purchasing of transportation services in all aspects including, but not limited to, conceptual development, data gathering and validation, creation of tender specifications, bidder list creation, tendering and negotiation with transportation service providers, alignment of recommendations, decision process support with steering committee/top management presentations, contract management, and operational ramp up. Communicate with truck plants, planners & carriers on material flow and traffic issues. Assist plant locations & local carriers with needed material, expedites and shipping information. Ensure critical or truck down orders ship each day. Develop innovative ideas and knowledge for cross-divisional internal topics for process optimization strategies within supplier management. Lead continuous improvement activities within the team as needed. Align logistics concepts, strategies, and savings initiatives within the DTNA 3PL network. Lead and support efforts to foster an inclusive and welcoming workplace culture where everyone belongs. Knowledge You Should Bring Must be currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s program or higher from an accredited college/university OR have recently graduated within 1 year of the position start date (May/June) Majors preferred: Supply Chain Management, Packaging, Engineering, Business, or related field Ability to analyze and summarize complex data sets required Ability to communicate effectively through oral presentations and written reports required Experience analyzing large data sets Comfortability in a manufacturing environment Comfortability interacting with suppliers and customers on a daily basis Ability to adapt in an environment of ongoing change Familiarity or experience with transportation procurement, carrier management, transportation planning, and logistics analysis preferred Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
