Full Time Nights Shift: Full-Time Thursday, Friday, Saturday, & every other Wednesday 6:30pm - 7:00am Job Summary: Plans and implements security services for the protection of the Hospital complex, campus, patients, visitors, and employees. Minimum Education: High School Diploma or GED. Must be a graduate of an accredited Security Training Institute. Licensure, Registration and/or Certification: CLEET Armed Security Guard Work Experience: 1-2 years of related security experience. Supervisory, scheduling, and budgeting experience preferred. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ability to utilize various computer software programs and be able to effectively utilize a computer for data entry, typing reports, and analyzing data. Ability to communicate positively, effectively, and concisely; both written and orally Oral, written, hearing and interpersonal skills to effectively meet the public and express facts clearly and concisely. Must possess organizational skills and be self-motivated with the ability to function independently. Must be able to provide superior customer service oriented values while serving others. Ability to be team member and mentor while promoting positive values in supervised staff. Ability to analyze situations and to adopt an effective course of action. Ability to maintain objectivity, providing effective solutions to problems, situations, and circumstances that arise. Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Assists with interviewing, hiring, developing, and supervising security officers in conjunction with management staff. Assists in determining/assigning employee work schedules and shifts. Performs the function of security call taker and dispatcher. Trains staff in all areas of security responsibilities and/or schedules staff to attend appropriate in-services, educational programs, or required certification instructions. Initiates, monitors, and maintains security measures to protect the life and property of all persons within the hospital complex. Facilitates the control of unruly visitors or patients with special attention to the emergency room. Arranges escort service to parking garage or lots for employees, visitors, and patients. Arranges escort service for persons transporting money or valuables. Assists in ensuring that a patrol system which incorporates the examination of the hospital premises, doors, windows, physical property, facilities, and suspicious activity is conducted/documented with the tour recording system. Responsible for ensuring that shift activity is recorded to a security log. May be asked by the security director or manager to assist with hospital investigations. Reviews and may approve submitted security incident reports. Facilitates communication with hospital administration, public safety officials, and other staff members regarding security problems, incidents, and concerns. Assist the security director or manager in enforcing hospital related security polices/procedures and those that are already in place. As directed, performs other related duties within the purview of the position, follows the hospital, and departmental policies/procedures. Decision Making: The carrying out of non-routine procedures under constantly changing conditions, in conformance with general instructions from supervisor. Working Relationships: Direct Supervision of others - No. of people supervised: (3-15). Prepares and gives performance evaluations. Works directly with patients and/or customers. Works with internal customers via telephone or face to face interaction. Works with external customers via telephone or face to face interaction. Works with other healthcare professionals and staff.
