  • WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR IN THIS ROLE    
  • This job contributes to Evolution Fresh success by supervising day-to-day operations in quality assurance to support Evolution Fresh roasting plant business objectives. Models and acts in accordance with Evolution Fresh guiding principles
  •  JOB DUTIES: 
  • * Assesses quality of daily production through review and analysis of documentation and data and ensures compliance of internal and regulatory quality guidelines 
  • * Supports and/or leads implementation and maintenance of Quality Assurance programs including food safety plans, food defense plans, quality management systems, food safety and quality training programs
  • * Works with other departments in reviewing Work Instructions to ensure that the adhere to current GMPs, regulatory requirements, and all internal and external food safety audits and certifications
  • * May serve as the plant quality assurance manager back-up for food safety and quality decision making 
  • * Works cross functionally to ensure effective and timely communication of company, plant and department information, standards, objectives, and goals
  • * Creates a cohesive, positive, and clean work environment by providing guidance, performance feedback and coaching to leads and partners
  • * Educates and consults with plant leadership, peers and manufacturing partners in food safety programs and related issues 
  • * Serves as a technical expert and coach for team members
  • * Supports partners in presenting ideas for improving the efficiency and productivity of operations
  • * Operates within established budgets, forecasts, cost objectives and service levels to control expenses. Supports implementation of cost, quality, and service improvement initiatives 
  • * Maintains product quality through adherence to good manufacturing practices, Food Safety Preventive Controls, product specifications and quality procedures
  • * Demonstrates and understands safety as our core value and follows the key essentials to safety as set forth by our safety resolution; reinforces and coaches others to do the same coaches others to do the same
  • * Understands and follows established safety guidelines, consistently complies with all safety procedures (e.g. PPE, Lock Out Tag Out)
  • * Acts as a safety change agent (e.g. CPR/First Aid certification; active engagement in safety committee, drives safety initiatives for department)
  • * Supports food safety, legality, and quality programs
  • * Maintains product quality through adherence to good manufacturing practices, Food Safety Preventative Controls, product specifications and quality procedures. Monitors and documents quality measures using analytical tools

  • MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 
  • * High School/GED or one plus years’ experience in related field or combination of both education and experience
  • * Quality assurance experience (5 years) 
  • * Auditing and monitoring of raw materials, packaging, and finished goods specification compliance (2 years) 
  • * Food manufacturing and / or laboratory management experience (2 years) 
  • * Hazard Assessment and Critical Control Points (HACCP) and Food Safety Plan / PCQI experience (2 years) 
  • * Review and summarize quality assurance records and metrics. (2 years) 
  • * Auditing raw materials and finished goods (2 years) 
  • * Laboratory (2 years)

  • ADDITIONAL REQUIERED QUALIFICATIONS: 
  • * Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing 
  • * Ability to lead and train others, solve problems, and make timely decisions 
  • * Analytical, systems-thinking skills 
  • * Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite
  • * Knowledge of food technology, food microbiology, safe food handling procedures and food service sanitation practices 
  • * Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), FSMA, Quality Management Systems, and HACCP principles 
  • * Ability to conduct quality assurance system audits, generate summary of findings, and approve CAPA plans 
  • * Ability to plan, develop, monitor, and verify Quality System programs and processes 
  • * Ability to work with a diverse team environment 
  • * Ability to work in accordance with safety, quality and sanitation standards, policies, and procedures o Ability to work variable shifts to support business needs 
  • * Develops others and ensures training and learning of team members 
  • * Ability to plan, prepare for and execute audits

  • PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 
  • * BS degree in science related field with preference to Food Science, Biology, or Microbiology 
  • * Regulatory Compliance Certifications – PCQI (Preventive Control Qualified Individual • GFSI Lead / Practitioner Certification – BRC, SQF, IFS, FSSC 22000 
  • * Food safety certification classes including safe food handling and sanitation practices 
  • * Experience in specific field or utilizing designated skills: 
  • 1. Working knowledge and strong understanding of QA methodology, processes, and GFSI standards 
  • 2. Manufacturer/supplier quality system and product auditing experience 
  • 3. Leadership or supervision of QA department in food processing 
  • 4. Familiarity with food safety regulatory requirements and global standards including Preventive Controls for Human Food (21 CFR 117) and the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI). Experience with BRC or SQF certification schemes.
