Role: The Billing Supervisor oversees the timely and accurate submission of all claims to third party payers; ensuring compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, and Commercial Insurances, and monitoring and development of billing staff. Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of experience and education • Minimum of four (4) years’ related work experience, preferably in healthcare • Minimum of one (1) year of supervisory or leadership experience • Knowledge of Hospice and physician billing state and federal billing regulations • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills • Advanced computer skills required with Microsoft Office knowledge preferred • Proficient in Excel and possess the ability to produce and/or review financial reports to ensure continuous revenue for governmental and/or nongovernmental accounts receivable • Ability to prioritize and multi-task independently with little supervision • Excellent skills in customer service, written and verbal communication, organization, critical thinking, and the ability to work in a team environment • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with staff and third-party payor’s • Ability to create and present reports to review and identify possible trends while encouraging process improvements Competencies: • Satisfactorily complete competency requirements for this position. Job Responsibilities: • Oversees the billing functions, including the initiation of goals and procedures, overseeing daily operations and work flow, and coordinating efforts to expedite payment of accounts. • Supervises employees in performance of tasks associated with billing and collection from third party payers. • Reviews and resolves issues related to claim submissions, including rejected and denied claims. • Participates in the development of unit policies and procedures • Performs any tasks required of billing and collection employees as needed. • Ensures appropriate and professional communication with payers and patients. • Elevates issues with payers and reports improvement as appropriate. • Reviews credit balance report on a weekly basis ensuring all credit balances are resolved timely and accurately in accordance to departmental standards in addition to completing the Medicare quarterly credit balance report. • Serves as a resource to staff by answering questions, assisting with problems, and providing training as necessary. • Performs other duties as assigned.
