The Staff Automation Professional contributes to the development, implementation, maintenance, support, and continuous improvement of Automated Control Systems, Manufacturing Execution Systems, Historians, Infrastructure, and Project execution within the Synthetic Gurabo site, while ensuring alignment to GMP guidelines. The Automation Professional will perform activities to maintain computer systems and operations in compliance with validation requirements and applicable regulations, while also providing technical direction and mentorship in the implementation, support, and maintenance of technology. This position supports the site’s 24/7 business model (local execution with the option to advance to the Global platform level). The role follows global SOPs (including backup, disaster recovery, user administration, etc.) and site-specific work instructions. In addition, it participates in compliance inspections related to ES systems, collaborates with IT to implement and maintain network configuration, and coordinates automation projects. Key Responsibilities: Act as an Automation SME at site and platform level. Support the planning and execution of Automation activities in alignment with business and manufacturing schedules. Driver Automation projects with effective financial and schedule management, collaborating with contractors and team members. Identify and recommend continuous improvement opportunities through automation/manufacturing system upgrades, documenting and implementing changes through formal change control. Administer and maintain manufacturing control systems to support daily operations, applying knowledge of GxP, 21 CFR part 11, EU Annex 11, GAMP 5, Serialization, and Information Asset Protection policies. Review and provide feedback/approval on computer system documentation, including lifecycle documentation for manufacturing and control systems. Promote site compliance and alignment with global and platform standards. Ensure proper handling, review, and control of manufacturing systems documentation in accordance with site procedures to meet business needs and production schedules. Track and report Automation metrics/indicators to support departmental goals and targets. Mentor and support co-op students, contractors, and interns in Automation. Demonstrate commitment to continuous learning and knowledge-sharing, modeling collaborative behaviors. Qualifications Education: A technical education / Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Science or Computer Sciences, Industrial Automation. Experience and Skills: Required: A minimum 10 years of experience in related field. Validated Experience with Computers, PLC and Electronic controlled equipment (CSV). Broad exposure to Packaging, Biotechnology, and Pharmaceutical operations, supporting regulated systems across these areas. Validated Experience to lead cross-functional projects, manage stakeholders, and deliver system implementations and compliance initiatives on time. Excellent verbal and written communication, with the ability to collaborate effectively at all levels of management. Experience working in a global organization, ensuring alignment with enterprise standards, regulatory requirements, and corporate strategies. Strong understanding of pharmaceutical compliance standards, including GMPs, Data Integrity principles, Cyber security, and Serialization regulations. Preferred: Green Belt Certification in Lean or Six Sigma. Other: Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.
