- We're is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join a self-contained special education program serving students with low-incidence and profound disabilities. This full-time position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by supporting communication and language development for students with complex needs in a structured and nurturing environment.
- About the Role
- As a Speech-Language Pathologist in this specialized program, you will provide direct and consultative speech and language services to a caseload of approximately 25–30 students. These students may have significant communication challenges, including limited verbal ability, alternative communication needs, and multiple disabilities. You will play a vital role in helping each student access their education, develop functional communication skills, and enhance overall participation in daily classroom activities.
What you'll Do
- Conduct comprehensive evaluations to assess speech, language, and communication abilities.
- Train and support staff in the use of AAC devices, visual supports, and communication tools.
- Maintain accurate documentation of therapy sessions, progress monitoring, and compliance requirements.
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) aligned with each student’s needs and goals.
- Participate in IEP meetings, student reviews, and professional development opportunities to continuously improve service delivery.
- Provide individual and small-group therapy focused on expressive and receptive language, articulation, social communication, and augmentative and alternative communication (AAC).
- Collaborate with teachers, paraprofessionals, occupational therapists, physical therapists, and other related service providers to ensure consistent implementation of communication strategies across settings.
- Requirements
- Active Illinois Speech Language Pathology license.
- Strong collaboration, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
- Experience working with students with profound or multiple disabilities preferred.
