  • POSITION SUMMARY
  • The Speech Language Pathologist Assistant will assist with creating and delivering instruction to students at Milestones Academy in their respective school. At Milestones Academy, you will work with students aged 5 to 21 years old that have intensive behavioral and teaching needs. Our Academy provides year-round individualized instruction utilizing the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis.

Specifically you will be responsible for

  • Provide evidence-based group or individual treatment activities as directed in the student’s IEP to enhance child’s educational performance; increase communication in the areas of language, speech, voice and fluency, increase executive function and reasoning skills and areas of social skill development.
  • Educate staff, families and other disciplines on the role of speech therapy and on the implementation of therapeutic interventions and teaching procedures.
  • Develop self professionally through inter-disciplinary collaborations, continuing education courses, professional workshops, professional meetings and independent research related to the speech-language-hearing profession.
  • QUALIFICICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree from a nationally accredited program
  • Current and active license in the state of practice
  • Minimum of one year experience as a practicing pediatric therapist is preferred
  • Background or certification in Augmentative Communication (AAC), Autism Spectrum Disorders, or developmental feeding is beneficial

  • Adhere to ethical guidelines set forth by Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and American Speech-Language Hearing Association
  • Must be able to pass all background checks, which may include physical, drug screening, and licensure.
  • Working Conditions: This is a fast-paced high performing team environment operates within a school setting under strict deadlines.
  • Physical Requirements: The ability to see, hear, and speak clearly. Reaching with hands and arms, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, frequent sitting, standing and walking for long periods of time. May involve climbing stairs, walking up inclines, and on uneven terrain. Additional physical requirements include, frequent lifting, pushing, pulling, and moving individuals with special needs a minimum of 50 pounds. Must be physically able to perform First Aide and CPR.

  • Starting Pay: Our compensation is competitive within the market. The starting rate for this position begins at $35.00 per hour, with your final offer based on a combination of your education, relevant experience, and overall qualifications
