  • Job Summary
  • The Senior Maintenance and Facilities Manager is responsible for overseeing all maintenance, facilities, capital projects, safety programs, and technical workforce training at Sonoma Craft. This role ensures operational continuity, infrastructure reliability, cost-effective capital execution, and regulatory compliance. The position collaborates closely with Operations, Supply Chain, and Human Resources leadership to align preventative maintenance, equipment optimization, training initiatives, and environmental safety across all departments including cellar, packaging, warehouse, and facilities.
  • Job Responsibilities
  • Facilities, Equipment, and Preventative Maintenance
  • Lead all equipment and facility operations to ensure maximum uptime, operational reliability, asset preservation, and measurable cost savings.
  • Develop, implement, and manage a comprehensive preventative maintenance strategy to reduce unplanned downtime and optimize asset performance.
  • Implement and utilize the CMMS to schedule, track, and analyze all maintenance activities with a focus on trend identification and continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate service schedules with Operations and Supply Chain leaders to meet production demands and minimize interruptions.
  • Establish and communicate regular performance goals for the production team to minimize downtime and align with preventative maintenance objectives.
  • Oversee all facility systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, wastewater, compressed air, and related utilities.
  • Manage fleet operations including compliance with vehicle registration, DOT tags, MC permits, and inspections.
  • Recommend and evaluate technologies that enhance predictive maintenance and automate critical reporting.
  • Conduct regular reviews of Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) training to ensure alignment with company strategy and operational priorities.
  • Minimize workplace and production disturbances during project execution, maintenance, and repair work.
  • Capital Projects and Budget Management
  • Recommend capital investments for infrastructure improvements, equipment upgrades, and facility enhancements aligned with strategic objectives.
  • Lead all phases of capital projects including project design, budgeting, vendor sourcing, implementation, and commissioning.
  • Administer and manage annual maintenance and facility budgets as well as long-term capital plans.
  • Ensure all capital projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet quality and compliance requirements.
  • Support long-term strategic growth and plant expansion planning through effective facilities leadership and planning.
  • Safety and Regulatory Compliance
  • Partner with Operations Manager to ensure compliance with OSHA, PPE, food safety, environmental standards, and all applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Lead comprehensive sitewide safety programs including behavior-based initiatives, hazard identification, and emergency preparedness planning.
  • Conduct regular audits, manage corrective action plans, and ensure timely completion of all safety training.
  • Promote and maintain sanitation and environmental cleanliness standards to meet internal and external compliance requirements.
  • Partner with Human Resources on incident investigations, root cause analysis, and the ongoing rollout of safety education and training.
  • Training and Workforce Development
  • Collaborate with Human Resources to develop and implement strategic, role-specific training across all production departments.
  • Supervise a dedicated Technical Trainer responsible for equipment training, SOP implementation, and job-specific skill development.
  • Establish and oversee cross-training, onboarding, and skill progression programs that increase operational flexibility and employee growth.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide development-focused feedback to support long-term career advancement.
  • Contribute to succession planning and the identification of high-potential talent for leadership pathways.
  • Design and deliver training to employees at all levels of technical sophistication.
  • Vendor and Stakeholder Relationships
  • Select, evaluate, and manage vendors responsible for equipment service, facility maintenance, and other outsourced operations.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews with service providers to ensure adherence to contract scope and quality expectations.
  • Represent Sonoma Craft during inspections, audits, permitting reviews, and compliance engagements.
  • Maintain proactive, collaborative communication with internal stakeholders and external partners on all facilities-related matters.
  • Support company sustainability goals through the implementation of energy-efficient solutions and utility optimization projects.
  • Skills & Qualifications
  • Minimum seven years of experience in facilities or plant operations, preferably within food or beverage manufacturing.
  • Minimum three years of experience managing teams and overseeing maintenance or production.
  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA, PPE, safety programs, and maintenance industry standards.
  • Proven experience implementing preventative maintenance strategies and utilizing CMMS systems.
  • Strong expertise in capital project execution, vendor management, and budget control.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to identify trends and drive performance improvements.
  • Clear and professional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team development abilities.
  • Valid driver license and clean driving record.
  • Forklift certification required.
  • Preferred: hands-on experience with welding, machining, or beverage industry equipment.

  • Work is performed in a beverage production facility with exposure to wet floors, elevated noise levels, temperature fluctuations, and high-voltage equipment.
  • Regular exposure to hazardous materials, cleaning agents, and alcohol-based products.
  • Responsible for maintaining a clean and organized environment that complies with all sanitation requirements.
  • Physical Requirements
  • Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Regularly required to talk, hear, feel, taste, and smell.
  • Frequently required to lift and move up to seventy-five pounds.
  • Must frequently reach with hands and arms.
  • Ability to work at heights of up to twenty feet using a platform ladder.
  • Visual requirements include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Additional Physical and Mental Requirements
  • Must be comfortable working in a production environment with exposure to noise, machinery, and varying temperatures.
  • Requires regular communication, concentration, and attention to detail.
  • May occasionally be required to kneel, crouch, or lift up to twenty pounds.
