## SharePoint Developer (Contract) — Financial Firm Help us stand up a secure, intuitive, and scalable SharePoint Online environment to power our firm’s data, collaboration, and AI workflows. We’re migrating from Ignite to SharePoint and need an expert who can architect the right structure, lead a smooth migration, and deliver a best-in-class employee experience. ### Core Responsibilities - Information architecture and build - Design a modern SharePoint Online structure (Hubs, Team/Communication sites) mapped to business units (e.g., Software/S-Drive, Healthcare/G-Drive). - Configure document libraries, content types, metadata, and views with clear naming conventions and navigation. - Create branded landing pages and reusable site templates for consistency and scale. - Security, access, and governance - Implement a least-privilege permissions model using Azure AD and SharePoint groups. - Set and document external sharing, sensitivity labels, DLP, retention, and eDiscovery policies. - Establish monitoring, auditing, and an admin runbook for ongoing operations. - Migration execution (Ignite → SharePoint Online) - Select and operate an enterprise-grade migration tool (e.g., ShareGate, AvePoint, Quest) that preserves permissions, version history, and metadata. - Run a pilot migration (low-risk folder), resolve deltas (paths, characters, broken links), and plan phased, weekend cutovers for S/G drives. - Validate post-migration integrity, permissions, and search indexing; deprecate legacy locations to ensure a single source of truth. - Employee experience and adoption - Build intuitive navigation, search, and “Start Here” guides; tune Microsoft Search (bookmarks, verticals, Q&A). - Deliver owner/admin training, short end-user guides, and handover documentation. - Integrations and light automation - Enable folder-based knowledge bases for our AI workflows (Claude) and align with Databricks access patterns. - Build quick wins using Power Automate/Lists (approvals, notifications) and advise when custom SPFx/Graph is warranted. ### Required Skills and Experience - 5+ years with SharePoint Online (modern experience mandatory): Hubs, Team/Communication sites, libraries, metadata, content types, site templates. - Proven enterprise migrations to SharePoint Online using ShareGate/AvePoint/Quest or equivalent, including: - Preserving permissions and version history - Resolving migration blockers (path length, illegal characters, link remediation) - Designing and executing phased cutovers with rollback plans - Strong security and compliance background in Microsoft 365: - Azure AD/SharePoint groups, sensitivity labels, DLP, retention, eDiscovery, audit - External sharing policies and governance documentation - Microsoft Search tuning and content indexing know-how. - Power Platform proficiency (Power Automate, Lists; Power Apps a plus) for lightweight processes. - Scripting/automation familiarity (PnP PowerShell); comfort with Microsoft Graph concepts. - Excellent stakeholder communication, documentation, and training skills; able to move fast and make pragmatic decisions. ### Nice-to-Have Qualifications - SPFx (React) experience for custom web parts/extensions when needed. - Experience in regulated or data-sensitive environments (private equity, finance, healthcare). - Records management and advanced retention policies expertise. - Prior work enabling AI/analytics workflows (e.g., folder-level knowledge bases for LLMs, Databricks-aware content strategies). - Experience with multi-tenant/geo or complex permission models at scale. ### Engagement Details - Contract: Part-time during initial build and migration (approx. 1–2 months), with potential extension. - Deliverables include: Architecture and governance plan, site templates, migration runbooks and reports, branded sites and navigation, validated security/search, training and documentation. If you’re a SharePoint expert who can combine architecture, security, migration execution, and a great employee experience, we’d love to hear from you.
