  • About the Role: Grade Level (for internal use): 11 The Role: Senior Index Manager, Private Markets and Equity Indices The Location: New York, NY The Team: The role will be part of the Index Management and Production Group (“IMPG”) at S&P Global. The team is responsible for the production and management of a wide range of indices covering global options, equities, futures, fixed income, commodity, digital assets, private markets and economics indices. This specific role will focus on the management and oversight of Private Markets and Equity indices, ensuring the integrity and accuracy of the indices through thorough research and analysis. The Impact: As Senior Index Manager specializing in the Private Markets and Equity market, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing the quality of S&P Dow Jones Indices (“S&P DJI”). Your expertise in these markets will be essential in researching corporate actions, new issuances, and implementing index changes. The candidate will collaborate with internal teams to design and implement methodologies for Private Markets and Equity indices, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of index data, and monitoring market trends and performance of the indices. They will be responsible for coordinating with key stakeholders to build awareness and profile of Private Markets and Equity indices through analytical research. Responsibilities: Conduct thorough research on corporate actions, new issuances, and other market events impacting Private Markets and Equity securities. Understand and explain highly complex index methodologies to stakeholders. Provide detailed analysis of recommended index changes to the relevant index committee. Ensure that all index changes are accurately reflected in the index methodology and communicated to stakeholders. Ability to serve on various index committees, providing necessary governance to S&P DJI branded indices Collaborate with stakeholders to thoroughly assess potential methodology changes, manage the process of governance review, and work through to seamless implementation of the index changes. Participate in the development and launch of new indices, including methodology application, operational feasibility and system capabilities. Stay updated on market trends, regulatory changes, and other factors affecting the Private Markets and Equity markets. Provide subject matter expertise to internal and external stakeholders. Compensation/Benefits Information: (This section is only applicable to US candidates) S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $ 100,909 to $130,000 Final base salary for this role will be based on the individual’s geographic location, as well as experience level, skill set, training, licenses and certifications. In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan. This role is eligible to receive additional S&P Global benefits. What We’re Looking For: Basic Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree required, with a focus in math, economics, or finance or related fields. At least 5 years of professional experience working directly in Private Markets or Equity Indices, asset management, trade operations or related roles. A demonstrable understanding of global financial markets, particularly the Private Markets and Equity market dynamics, regulations, and best practices. Proficiency in Microsoft Office required. Knowledge of Python & experience with process automation is a plus. Must be able to work independently on multiple projects with a strong sense of initiative. Must be able to demonstrate excellent analytical and quantitative capabilities on large data sets to solve problems in a timely and insightful manner. Ability to learn S&P DJI’s proprietary index calculation platforms Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to coordinate work done by multiple people and/or groups. Preferred Qualifications: Advanced degree in finance, economics, mathematics, or a related field. CFA or progress toward CFA and/or CIPM certification a plus. Experience working with index management or financial data services. Familiarity with S&P DJI’s index methodologies and processes.
