Department Board of Elections Division Clerical/Administrative Support/Data Entry Salary $18.00 - $18.00 Job Profile JC-03350012-99 - Seasonal Operations Clerk (Non-Union Executive Branch) Scheduled Work Days & Work Hours Opening Date January 1, 2026 Closing Date January 10, 2026 Job Requisition Number JR100640 SEASONAL OPERATIONS CLERK (Open Date: 01/01/2026) Pay Grade U40258 H Classification Seasonal Operations Clerk Class Definition REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS FOR APPOINTMENT: EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Education: Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent, or preferably possession of an associate’s degree from a college of recognized standing. Experience: Such as may have been gained through employment in a warehouse environment and/or experience in conducting in-person or virtual training. Or, any combination of education and experience that shall be substantially equivalent to the above education and experience. Supplemental Information GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: To work in the warehouse operations of the agency, as well assist with the maintenance, shipping, receiving and inspection of the Board’s vote tabulation and ballot marking equipment. Assist in the training and the instruction of election officials, voters and civic groups in the proper use of voting equipment. Assist in the preparation of mail ballots for processing which includes opening, scanning, and sorting prior to the tabulation of the ballot. Assist in the preparation and packaging of supplies to be distributed to all the cities & towns for elections, as well as the return and processing of all election forms and supplies after the election. Hours may vary due to the seasonal demands of elections SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Works under the general supervision of the Deputy Director from whom general and specific assignments are received. ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED: • To work within a warehouse environment and assist in providing maintenance to voting equipment to ensure their good working order, including setup and testing, as well as assisting with shipping and receiving of vote tabulation, ballot marking equipment, and election supplies to and from polling places. • Assist with the preparation of equipment and supplies necessary to conduct elections, recounts, and post-election audits, as well as processing forms, supplies returned after an election, and the proper storage of ballots, equipment, and supplies after recounts and post-election audits. • To assist in providing virtual and in-person instructional classes to local election officials and technicians on the administration of elections, including for early voting sites and at the polling places. • To assist with the processing of mail ballots, including conducting pickups at mail ballot drop boxes, city and town halls, and postal facilities. Operating a state vehicle to transport ballots to the agency, as well as with the opening, scanning, and processing of mail ballots prior to tabulation, as well as the proper storage of ballots after tabulation. • To perform routine clerical and maintenance for the agency, including pickup and deliveries throughout the state as needed, using a state vehicle. • To perform other duties as required. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND CAPACITIES: The ability to perform tasks requiring mechanical/electrical aptitude; the ability to work with peers and subordinates; the ability to work well with other seasonal warehouse staff and election officials; the ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; and related capacities and abilities. Applicant must be capable of lifting 80 lbs. and hold a valid driver’s license.
