The RN Telephone Advice/Triage Nurse provides expert professional nursing advice and triage services to patients over the phone. Conducts patient assessments utilizing standard protocols and standardized procedures. Uses clinical knowledge, experience, and best practice independently to provide medical advice to patients with potentially urgent, emergent, or potential health problems. Makes safe, effective, and appropriate dispositions, including facilitating referrals to primary care and specialty providers, healthcare facilities and community resources. Responsible for educating the caller regarding immediate health care needs utilizing knowledge of basic nursing principles, practices, ethics, and concepts. Handles incoming calls, faxes prescriptions and assist with processing prescription refill. Will be in-office with the option of becoming remote after successful completion of departmental requirements.

Required Experience

Required:

  • Current and unrestricted RN CA state licensure
  • Current BLS card issued by American Heart Association
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing Science (BSN) from accredited nursing program
  • Minimum 3 years of nursing experience
  • Minimum 2 years in an emergency room or urgent care setting 

Preferred:

  • Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills
  • Experience in direct nursing care in the Ambulatory Care Setting a plus
  • A background in telephone triage is ideal
