Key Responsibilities in Residential Conveyancing
  • Independently managing a diverse caseload of residential conveyancing matters, including freehold and leasehold sales and purchases, transfers of equity, remortgages, and new build transactions.
  • Drafting, reviewing, and amending contracts, transfer deeds, completion statements, and all required legal documentation, ensuring compliance with firm procedures and best practice.
  • Acting as the primary point of contact for clients, providing timely, clear, and practical legal advice throughout the property transaction process.
  • Conducting thorough title investigations, reviewing search results, raising and responding to enquiries, and proactively resolving any legal issues.
  • Liaising and building relationships with estate agents, mortgage lenders, other solicitors, and third parties to progress each matter efficiently.
  • Keeping up-to-date and detailed records using the firm's case management system, ensuring full compliance with SRA, AML, GDPR, and CQS requirements.
  • Contributing positively to the wider team, including knowledge sharing, supporting colleagues, and assisting with the development of junior team members where needed.
Essential Skills and Experience for Residential Conveyancers
  • At least 3 years’ experience as a fee earner in residential conveyancing, with a track record of independently handling a varied and high-volume caseload from instruction to completion.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of current residential conveyancing law and process, including freehold, leasehold, new build, and remortgage transactions.
  • Demonstrable ability to draft, review, and negotiate legal documents with high attention to detail and a problem-solving approach.
  • Excellent communication skills—both written and verbal—with a strong commitment to outstanding client care and building rapport with clients and stakeholders remotely.
  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a remote team, with sound IT skills, including use of case management systems and Microsoft Office.
