Your next career opportunity As a Research Specialist at the Metabolomics Australia facility, you'll have the opportunity to apply your mass-spectrometry experience to develop and apply cutting-edge bioinformatics solutions, enhancing metabolomics research within the Bio21 Institute. You'll collaborate with a dynamic team, engage with diverse stakeholders, and contribute to the delivery of high-quality metabolomics services. This role offers you the chance to advance your expertise in mass-spectrometry and bioinformatics while impacting significant research projects nationwide. Your responsibilities will include: Develop and Apply Bioinformatics Solutions: Create and implement workflows for analysing complex mass spectrometry-based metabolomics data, ensuring high-quality service delivery. Collaborate and Train: Engage with stakeholders, provide training, and support the development of bioinformatics capabilities within the facility. Contribute to Research and Data Management: Participate in research projects, manage data storage, and support cloud computing solutions. Engage in Outreach and Partnerships: Foster collaborative partnerships with industry and academic stakeholders, promoting the facility's capabilities. You may be a great fit if: You are an innovative bioinformatics expert or a computational metabolomics/mass spectrometry specialist with a PhD in a relevant discipline. You should be adept at developing and applying analytical solutions, with experience in metabolomics or mass spectrometry-based small molecule analysis. An interest in scripting, coding, or programming to streamline data processing, analysis, and visualisation is highly desirable. You will be eager to foster collaborative research partnerships in a dynamic environment. You may also: Have a PhD in Analytical Chemistry, Bioinformatics, or a related field. Possess strong expertise in mass spectrometry, bioinformatics workflows, and data management. Demonstrate proficiency in R and/or Python scripting and collaborative code maintenance. Exhibit excellent communication and teamwork skills, with a proactive approach to service delivery. Have experience in bioinformatics solutions development and stakeholder engagement.
