Your next career opportunity As a Research Assistant with the Enteric Neural Plasticity Laboratory, you'll support cutting-edge research into novel stem cell therapies for Hirschsprung Disease. You will gain hands-on experience with in vivo models, cell transplantation, and gut tissue analysis, while collaborating in a highly innovative, multi-centre research environment. This role offers a chance to make a significant impact on paediatric healthcare and advance your research career. Your responsibilities will include: Conducting In Vivo Experiments: Lead experiments on transgenic mouse and rat lines, including injections, gut motility assays and post-surgical care. Managing Stem Cell Cultures: Handle and maintain human pluripotent stem cell lines, ensuring sterile technique and differentiation. Performing Surgical Experiments: Assist in transplanting stem cells into gastrointestinal tracts and collect tissues for analysis. Maintaining Laboratory Operations: Keep accurate records, manage consumables, and ensure compliance with research protocols. You may be a great fit if: You will be a dedicated research professional with a BSc (Hons) in a relevant field, adept at conducting animal-based research, maintaining data integrity, and thriving in collaborative environments. You must have experience in small animal handling and in vivo experimentation. Prior experience in digestive physiology is highly desirable You may also: Be skilled in immunohistochemistry, histology, and microscopy. Have expertise in sterile cell culture techniques. Demonstrate strong communication and problem-solving skills. Have demonstrated experience in strong record keeping and attention to detail Be willing to work occasionally outside normal hours for experiment completion.
