  • Description
  • This position is in an outpatient setting. The schedule is Monday-Friday, no nights, no weekends, not on-call.
  • GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Operates radiologic equipment to make clinical diagnostic x-ray images as directed by physicians or nurse practitioners and performs routine diagnostic procedures.

DUTIES PERFORMED

  • Constantly positions patients and adjusts equipment for taking x-rays following established procedures.
  • Constantly instructs patients regarding procedures. Observes patients for vital signs during x-ray examination.
  • Constantly follows prescribed safety standards in operating radiologic equipment.
  • Constantly selects length and intensity for radiation exposure by adjusting equipment on an individual patient basis.
  • Frequently examines radiologic image for properties such as density and contrast, definition, magnification, and distortion.
  • Frequently authorizes release of patients upon completion of radiologic examination.
  • Constantly maintains x-ray examinations rooms. Stocks necessary medical and radiologic supplies.
  • Frequently expose and send image via digital system (PACS) to physician for reading and interpretation.
  • Occasionally cleans and makes minor adjustments to radiologic equipment.
  • Responsible for daily/monthly log reports.
  • Responsible for maintaining spreadsheet of all exams for billing purposes.
  • Responsible for ordering own supplies and maintenance schedules.
  • Responsible for all outside/loan out images.
  • Constantly maintains patient confidentiality.
  • Enhances professional growth through education programs, conferences, workshops and CE credits.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Completion of course in radiologic technology approved by the America Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
  • Current certification (ARRT) with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists required.
  • One year of experience as a radiologic technologist preferred.
