As a Project Cost Controller, you’ll serve as the financial partner for our project teams, managing
- • Project set-up and maintenance within Trident’s ERP
- • Budget, schedules, and forecasting
- • Invoicing and time entry
- • Financial tracking and oversight
- Your work ensures that projects remain efficient, accurate, and profitable. You’ll collaborate closely with estimators, project managers, field teams, and leadership to maintain cost transparency, accountability, and client trust. This role is central to keeping projects aligned with scope, schedule, and budget while delivering lasting value.

- Key Responsibilities
- • Develop, maintain, and update project cost reports, forecasts, schedules, and cash flows on a weekly basis.
- • Track project expenditures against budgets, identify variances, and recommend corrective actions.
- • Partner with peers and leaders within Trident’s Professional Services Team on project planning, scheduling, and resource allocation.
- • Manage cost coding, invoicing, and expense allocation within Trident’s ERP and/or financial systems.
- • Support estimating with cost data for vendor contracts and change orders.
- • Prepare periodic financial updates and variance reports for leadership and stakeholders.
- • Conduct cost risk assessments and provide recommendations for corrective measures.
- • Assist with project closeout to ensure accurate reporting and documentation.
- Requirements
- • Strong financial and analytical acumen with keen attention to detail.
- • Proficiency in ERP systems, Excel, and project management software.
- • Ability to interpret technical and financial data for decision-making.
- • Excellent communication skills to collaborate across departments.
- • Organizational skills to manage multiple projects, schedules, and deadlines.
- • Problem-solving mindset with adaptability to changing project conditions.
- Requirements
- • Bachelor's degree, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- • 3+ years of experience in project cost control or financial analysis (experience in utilities, energy, or construction preferred).
- • Knowledge of cost control principles, financial reporting, and forecasting methods.
- • Understanding of project lifecycles in engineering, construction, or energy sectors.
- • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build cross-functional relationships.
- • Proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently and in a team setting.
