Job Summary
- The Privacy & Compliance Manager is responsible for overseeing all ongoing activities related to the development, implementation, and maintenance of the organization’s privacy and compliance programs. This includes ensuring adherence to federal and state laws, accreditation standards, and internal policies regarding the privacy and confidentiality of protected health information (PHI). The Manager conducts HIPAA risk assessments, develops and updates policies, oversees the compliance program and internal audit, and chairs compliance committees. This role provides regular reports to senior management and the board, leads compliance training and education, and identifies and mitigates compliance risks across the organization.
Essential Functions
- • Oversee the development, implementation, and maintenance of privacy and compliance policies and procedures.
- • Ensure organizational compliance with federal/state laws and accreditation standards.
- • Conduct HIPAA risk assessments and recommend improvements.
- • Manage the compliance program, internal audit, and organizational integrity initiatives.
- • Chair and serve on compliance and integrity committees.
- • Provide regular compliance reports to senior management and the board.
- • Lead the development and delivery of compliance training and education programs.
- • Identify compliance risks and implement corrective actions.
Requirements
- • Participates in Core Connections training and applies GPTLHB Core Connections concepts and practices in their work.
- • Familiarity and/or experience working with American Indian populations and respect for and knowledge of traditional, cultural, and spiritual practices of diverse American Indian communities, as well as an ability to work with other culturally and ethnically diverse populations.
- • Proficiency with computer programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other Internet technologies.
- • Valid driver’s license must be kept current, and certificates, credentials or licenses must be kept current and consistent with regulations required by applicable federal, state and/or grant regulations as applies to position.
- • Work in a cooperative and professional manner with OHC and GPTLHB staff.
- • Treat Great Plains tribes and collaborators with dignity and respect.
- • Utilize effective verbal and written communication skills.
- • Advance personal educational development by attending training sessions and seminars as appropriate.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Law, Public Health, Business Administration, or a related discipline and one (1) years of relevant experience. The experience required for supervisory/management positions will be inclusive of at least one (1) years of supervisory/management experience.
- Preferred: Master’s degree (e.g., MHA, MBA, JD, or MPH) with a focus on compliance, privacy, or risk management.
Preferred certifications
- Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC)
- Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US or CIPP/G)
- Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) or similar credential
