Working Title: Plant Mntc Engineer Helper Institution: Winona State University Classification Title: Plant Mntc Engineer Helper Bargaining Unit / Union: 202: AFSCME - Craft, Maintenance, and Labor City: Winona FLSA: Non Job Exempt Full Time / Part Time: Full time Employment Condition: Classified - Unlimited Salary Range: $24.14 - $27.92 Job Description 1. Perform necessary tasks and assist in the operation of the heating plant and chiller plant in an uninterrupted, safe and efficient manner A- Monitor controls and makes necessary adjustments B- Water testing and treatment C- Maintain necessary records D- Keep a clean, neat and safe work area 2. To assist in the regular care and maintenance of the following areas so that they are operated in an efficient and effective manner. A-Heating Systems B- Cooling Systems C-Building Automation System D-HVAC and controls to maintain a safe comfortable environment for Winona State University users. E-Electrical maintenance F-Plumbing maintenance G-General repair maintenance 3. Assist trades in remodeling and new construction as needed. Minimum Qualifications A current State of Minnesota “Special” Engineers license. This position must be able to perform work in maintaining and repairing a variety of miscellaneous devices and general maintenance tasks. Knowledge and ability to use standard diagnostic test and repair procedures utilized to service pneumatic and electronic equipment is also needed. Must be able to work a rotating schedule including some holidays and weekends. Must pass a criminal background check and possess a valid driver’s license. Preferred Qualification Certification as a forklift and or skid steer operator for assistance throughout the Physical Plant as needed. Certification of completion of an OSHA 30 or 10 hour course would be preferred. Training and certification on use of lift equipment. Additional training in HVAC Controls, Electrical License, Plumbing License or a graduate of an accredited Building Utility Maintenance program would be preferred. Other Requirements In order to accomplish the tasks of this position it requires bending, stooping, reaching above shoulder level, crouching, pushing and pulling up to 125 pounds on a regular basis and occasionally more. Climbing ladders greater than 6 feet high, twisting and squatting are required on an occasional basis.
