Oversee an operational staff, ensuring compliance with safety, performance standards, and operational excellence in alignment with Caterpillar and Wheeler Machinery standards to be the Best.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safety & Culture
  • Champion a zero-accident workplace using Total Safety Management and TRACK safety systems.
  • Foster a Growth Minded, Lean Thinking culture that empowers team members to “See it, Do it, Teach it,” bringing out the Best in themselves and each other every day.
  • Ensure all team members are equipped and supported to work safely and return home safely each day
  • Implement a 5S lean mentality and culture throughout all Ely Branch operations
  • Customer Experience
  • Take a customer viewpoint to understand needs and urgency across all market areas.
  • Deliver a Wow Experience by ensuring parts are available and delivered with speed and reliability.
  • Resolve customer (internal and external) issues proactively with an action-oriented, alternative solutions mindset, leading all communication with the customers through extreme ownership.
  • Operational Excellence
  • Lead the operational teams using Lean principles from our Wheeler Lean Playbook to eliminate waste and drive improved efficiency.
  • Develop and achieve department budget metrics aligned with revenue, direct expenses, and profitability objectives.
  • Oversee all parts operations including counter, hose, and warehousing activities working very closely with the supply chain and logistics teams.
  • Digital Transformation
  • Utilize digital tools and software such as Parts Viz, SIS 2.0, Parts.Cat.Com, and other tools to maximize the value provided to our customer base.
  • Automate processes where possible and implement Standard Operating Procedures when possible and develop them when needed.
  • Maintain a Growth Mindset towards adopting future digital tools that unlock increased value for customers.
  • Expense Management
  • Track and optimize key operational expenses such as personnel, freight, warranty, emergency service charges, supplies, etc.
  • Implement cost-control measures and integrate KPIs into the Daily Management (PSQDC) of our operational teams
  • Enhanced Services
  • Work with the Logistics teams to support and manage the Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) programs to improve customer uptime and reduce emergency orders.
  • Oversee delivery services to ensure timely, accurate, and cost-effective fulfillment of customer orders.
  • Leadership & Talent Development
  • Build a pipeline of talent and succession plans for key roles.
  • Mentor direct reports to achieve department goals.
  • Promote a One Unified Team Approach across the department.
  • Strategic Initiatives
  • Support go-to-market scalability and operational goals.
  • Implement Lean Daily Management tools (PSQDC) to measure performance across People, Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost.
  • Qualifications
  • 5–10 years of leadership experience in parts operations.
  • Safety-oriented mindset and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, Growth Minded environment truly understanding the hazards related to our Mining Industry
  • Proven track record of achieving results through problem solving and Lean Thinking.
  • Committed to bringing out the Best in themselves and their team, through a Growth Mindset and Lean Thinking.
  • Strong understanding of operational excellence and customer value creation.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage vendor relationships.
  • Proficiency in inventory management and route planning tools.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
