- The Overlake School—a thriving, future-focused independent school nestled in a green forest in Redmond, WA—is hiring for a dynamic, relationship-driven part-time Art Teacher - Painting for second semester (January - June). Courses taught will be Middle School Painting (7th-8th grade) and Upper School Painting (9th-12th class.) The ideal candidate is an enthusiastic educator who fosters a love of art, supports students in their academic and personal growth, and contributes to a collaborative and dynamic learning environment.

- Salary: $61,987 - $118,388, Depending on Education and Experience - 50% FTE
- Position Summary
- The ideal candidate has a minimum of three years of art teaching experience at the secondary school level, with an emphasis on painting, an advanced degree in art and/or education, and a passion for working with middle and high school students. The Overlake School's strategic vision is to develop its capacity to have equity and inclusion at the institution's heart in its teaching and learning. We seek educators who can carry cultural competence and teach for equity and justice as central to their instruction.
- Requirements
Successful candidates are teachers who inspire students to love art and painting. Further, strong candidates must demonstrate the following
- A bachelor’s degree in the field of Visual Arts or related field; a master’s degree and/or teaching credential is preferred.
- Computer literacy and technological proficiency, with interest in incorporating technology into the classroom
- A desire to put cultural competency at the heart of their pedagogy and skill at working with a diverse population in an inclusive and equitable community
- Belief in the critical importance of diversity in the life of the school and excitement about working to build and maintain a classroom that honors diversity of opinion and practice
- Commitment to modeling and exhibiting high standards of scholarship
- Capacity to communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues within and outside of the department and grade-level teams
