  • Pay: $68,540 - $73,000 per year based on background, education, and experience.
  • Position Overview
  • This team leader is primarily responsible, in collaboration with the Parish Sacramental/Spiritual Leader-Priest and other parish staff, for financial and personnel administration, communication with the parish in general, and all responsibilities relating to the physical site.
  • Primary Responsibilities
  • Supervision
  • Supervises the Office Administrative Assistant, Parish Financial Assistant, Faith Formation Coordinators, Facilities Coordinator, Church Musicians and, directly or indirectly, all volunteer administrative staff (i.e. volunteer receptionist/office helpers, volunteer data input personnel)
  • Communication/Community Engagement
  • Responsible for ongoing written communication and oral presentations with the parish at large
  • Responsible, in cooperation with other staff, to present an Annual Report to the parish including the financial situation, pastoral accomplishments of the previous year, the pastoral plan for the upcoming year and the budget which will support our work plans
  • Responsible for the Parish Website, assisted by Parish Administrative Assistant and utilizing appropriate volunteers e.g. Webmaster
  • Day-to-Day Operations
  • Manages day-to-day financial and business operations of the parish, including necessary record keeping, supervising the parish Financial Assistant
  • Manages the day-to-day operations and systems of the parish office, supervising the parish Administrative Assistant
  • Manages day-to-day personnel administration and human resource needs of the parish, in coordination with the Diocese, maintaining necessary records
  • Manages the day-to-day maintenance of the parish physical plant, including buildings, grounds and equipment, supervising the parish Facilities Coordinator
  • Manages day-to-day Faith Formation Programs and Ministries, supervising the Faith Formation Coordinators, catechists, liturgical ministry leaders, pastoral ministry leaders, and church musicians
  • Develops, in collaboration with the parish Sacramental/Spiritual Leader-Priest and staff, a Five-Year Work Plan and an Annual Work Plan to be reviewed with the Parish Pastoral Council
  • Develops & maintains, in collaboration with the parish Sacramental/Spiritual Leader-Priest, and other parish staff, an annual budget, based upon the Annual Work Plan, which is to be reviewed with the Finance Council
  • Assists parish staff in developing budgets for their portions of the work plan
  • Develops budgets for all items included in the Director’s work responsibilities to include expected income and expenses for parish Office & Administration
  • Provides in collaboration with the Financial Assistant, at least monthly, reports to parish staff to help them stay within their individual budgets
  • Finance, Pastoral, Stewardship and Development
  • Works with the Chair of the Parish Finance, Pastoral, Stewardship and Development Councils, which are responsible for helping the parish raise necessary funds for ongoing funding needs to include parish ministries and community events
  • Maintains an official file for Council Minutes and other documents related to their work
  • Maintenance of Accounting System (utilizing QuickBooks software supervising and assisted by the PT data entry/bookkeeper/assistant) according to Diocesan policies and the needs of the parish
  • Develop & maintain 5–10-year plan for regular maintenance/replacement of physical plant resources
  • Provides leadership and direction to the Parish Finance Council which is responsible for advising the Parish Life Director on financial matters of the parish, including physical plant
  • Works with Chairs of the Councils on preparation of the agenda for meetings
  • Presents and explains, with the assistance of the parish Financial Assistant, the Financial Reports at meetings. A preliminary written explanation, along with the reports, will be provided at least one week prior to the meeting
  • Makes a list of tasks developed out of the Council meetings and manages completion of those tasks, reporting on them at the next meeting
  • Maintains an official file for Finance Council Minutes and other documents related to their work.
  • Requirements
  • Because of the nature of the job and the necessary connection with life of the parish, the Parish Life Director is required to be a member of the parish
  • An appropriate theology of parish life and Church Mission
  • Minimum five years of experience in parish life management
  • An ability to work collaboratively as a member of a work team
  • Exceptional communication skills, both orally and in writing,
  • Needs to be able to produce an Annual Financial Report and periodic progress reports
  • Needs to create, collaborate, and supervise weekly Flocknote communications
  • The ability to attract, empower, and utilize office volunteers
  • The ability to empower, motivate and work with councils and committees
  • An in-depth understanding of Managerial Accounting
  • A servant/service-oriented, and people-oriented attitude and philosophy
  • Exceptional organizational and managerial skills, and
  • Must be a fully initiated Catholic living a life in harmony with Church teachings (or is willing to become fully initiated)
  • Physical Demands
  • While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to be in an office at a computer workstation and access information from a computer and use a telephone. The employee is required to be mobile to, from, and within the church offices, as well as maneuver throughout the facility to attend meetings, briefings, and other work-related events. The employee may be required to conduct trips to, from, and within various city and county-wide locations to attend meetings or events. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
