This role is pivotal in ensuring our teams operate with consistency, precision, and accountability—particularly around environmental performance, water quality, health and safety, and compliance with regulatory obligations. As Ops Service Competency Assurance Lead, you’ll play a key role in safeguarding standards, mitigating risks, and developing leadership capability across our operational teams. What you will be doing Deliver structured briefings and training sessions to keep teams informed on critical updates. Provide targeted coaching and mentoring to reinforce understanding of key processes. Conduct competency assessments and track progression to mitigate operational and environmental risks. Collaborate with compliance and risk teams to integrate findings into broader strategies. Support managers with leadership development, equipping them to guide teams effectively. Analyse performance data to identify trends and implement improvements. Drive a culture of continuous improvement in health and safety. What does it take to be an Ops Service Competency Assurance Lead? Degree-level qualification (or equivalent experience); ideally ILM Level 5 in Leadership. Strong technical knowledge of 24/7 control room operations and IRIS/alarm handling. Expertise in competency development and training within regulated environments. Excellent coaching, mentoring, and leadership skills. Strong understanding of environmental compliance, risk management, and regulatory requirements. Exceptional communication, analytical, and stakeholder engagement skills. Flexible, constructive attitude and ability to work under pressure. What’s in it for you?
