Uber Direct is our fast growing new business line that focuses on last-mile delivery across all verticals - Online Food Delivery, Grocery, Retail, Ecommerce - empowering merchants to deliver orders generated on their own channels (outside of Uber's marketplaces) with the most convenient experience. Direct is rapidly growing the ways in which Uber connects the world. Our goal is to set the momentum that will transform Direct into a sizable part of our business in 2026. Uber Direct has the potential to be our next multi-billion dollar business.
As we are rapidly scaling the business, we created a sub-region for smaller markets (Rest of EMEA) and established a centralized Direct Operations team that supports these markets on the day to day operational challenges as well as strategic projects. As one of the Operations managers in this newly formed team, you would be responsible for select parts of the Operations across these markets to enable growth and set the business up for scale and success. You will primarily work with local and regional stakeholders to surface local needs, identify solutions and drive execution. You will partner with the leadership team and will be accountable for delivering the roadmap of this sub-region in EMEA.
This is the ideal role for someone with data-driven yet hands-on problem solving skills, passion for identifying and driving improvements, affinity to product and technical details together with a strong ability to manage a diverse stakeholder group and next-level project management.
What You'll Do
- Collaborate with local, regional, and global partners (including Operations, Product, Marketing, Legal) as you seek to grow Uber Direct in EMEA
- Build credibility and deliver value as a project owner and be in charge of end-to-end program management of key tasks and initiatives with strong follow-ups
- Proactively surface opportunities to drive operational excellence by conducting data-driven analyses, deep-diving into operational metrics, getting consensus from cross-functional partners, and crafting and implementing new operational processes
- Synthesizing varying inputs (e.g. quantitative analysis, product briefs, market feedback) to come up with recommendations and drive alignment
- This role encompasses the ability to coordinate and collaborate on projects on regional and local levels and communicate to all levels of stakeholders (from most junior up to the highest level executives)
What You'll Need
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with operations, data analytics, operational excellence, project management
- You're a self-starter and take initiative to seize opportunities: The Direct team is evolving every day and requires highly motivated individuals that thrive in a fast-paced environment, have high adaptability to change and the ability to execute quickly (pivoting from long-term thinking to immediate action tactical responses)
- Shown ability to collaborate and build trust with diverse stakeholder set including senior leadership
- Passion for solving ambiguous and complex problems - experience with demonstrating quantitative and qualitative sources to translate complex problems into clear, concise, and practical solutions. You need to be structured and have attention to detail.
- Expert in SQL
- Understands Basic Concepts of Database Modeling
- Coding knowledge - You can read and understand simple, high level code
Preferred Qualifications
- Industry expertise in the on-demand / same-day delivery space
- Experience with working in a local / in market role and with a regional / central team
- Experience with working with Product in a global organization
