- The Operations Manager supports the General Manager in strategic planning and oversees all aspects of production operations. This role is responsible for managing manufacturing personnel, optimizing production efficiency, ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across the organization.
- Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the General Manager to develop and implement long-range and annual operational plans.
- Oversee and schedule all production operations to ensure timely and efficient output.
- Lead recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and training of direct and indirect manufacturing staff.
- Coordinate with the Quality Manager to maintain and update training matrices.
- Provide operational input during quotation and contract reviews.
- Analyze workforce capabilities and equipment availability to meet production demands.
- Lead the Process Development Team in creating, documenting, and standardizing new manufacturing processes.
- Develop work instructions and process routings.
- Manage training programs and documentation for production personnel.
- Oversee performance management for manufacturing staff and work cells.
- Monitor work order efficiency and profitability; manage customer programs accordingly.
- Contribute to cost of sales analysis and ensure budget compliance.
- Support the Quality Manager in achieving Quality Management System (QMS) objectives.
- Assist in addressing customer concerns, including root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with employment regulations and reporting requirements.
- Serve as Director of Health and Safety, leading safety initiatives and 6S implementation.
- Participate in ISO/AS policy and process review boards.
- Promote a culture of quality and continuous improvement throughout the organization.
- Provide customer service support to the Sales Manager and Inside Sales team as needed.
- Execute special projects as assigned by the General Manager.
- Direct Reports include all manufacturing personnel, group leaders, purchasing, shipping and receiving staff.
- Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA) in a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in operations, manufacturing, or a related industry.
- Strong understanding of general business principles and practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical functions and apply statistical concepts such as averages and percentages.
- Demonstrated adaptability to changing priorities, schedules, and work environments.
- Proven ability to work independently, manage workflow, and prioritize tasks without direct supervision.
- Comfortable working in an industrial manufacturing environment with a focus on safety.
- Solid understanding of ISO and AS standards and their application in a manufacturing setting.
- Familiarity with OSHA regulations and general workplace safety requirements.
- Managerial-level experience in Operations and/or Manufacturing Engineering.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, performance metrics, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Experience with production scheduling, order processing, and workflow optimization.
- Understanding of preventative maintenance programs and facility maintenance requirements.
- General knowledge of cost accounting, budgeting, and financial analysis.
- Exposure to Quality Management Systems and related functions.
- Experience in customer service, contract negotiation, and managing customer relationships.
