Employment Type: Full time Shift: Rotating Shift Description: Saint Alphonsus Health System, Idaho's only hospital system recognized by Forbes as one of America's Best Large Employers for 2025, is looking for a Nurse Unit Supervisor to join our team at our Level II Trauma Center in Boise, Idaho. This position will be located at our Regional Medical Center off I-184 and Curtis Rd. and will support our Heart and Vascular Step-Down unit in addition to our Telemetry unit. The position will share supporting duties with a nurse manager and another supervisor. Schedule: This position offers a combination of 12-hour charge nurse shifts and 8–12-hour office shifts. Support Department Operations: Assist the Nurse Manager in overseeing daily operations, including staffing, quality of care, program development, and collaboration with medical staff. Drive Quality & Safety: Partner with the Manager and Quality Assurance representatives to lead interdisciplinary initiatives focused on nursing service delivery and continuous improvement. Lead and Develop Teams: Plan, assign, and monitor staff work. Participate in hiring, performance evaluations, salary reviews, and staff development, serving as a mentor and resource. Provide Performance Feedback: Collaborate with other supervisors to monitor and document staff performance, offering constructive feedback and support. Deliver Patient Care: Actively perform the essential functions of a Registered Nurse within the assigned unit and assist with patient care as needed, serving as a role model for clinical excellence. Support Onboarding: Coordinate orientation for new employees and preceptors, and mentor new charge nurses to ensure a smooth transition and strong foundation. Contribute to Policy Development: Participate in the review and implementation of policies and procedures, ensuring timely updates and compliance. Manage Incidents & Grievances: Review patient grievances and incident reports (VOICE), helping to resolve concerns and improve patient experience. Represent Leadership: Attend meetings and act on behalf of the Nurse Manager when needed, ensuring continuity in leadership and decision-making. Facilitate Communication: Promote effective communication between patients, families, physicians, and care teams to support coordinated and compassionate care. Support Administrative Functions: Assist with scheduling, timekeeping, and supply management to maintain efficient unit operations. Qualifications: Idaho or multistate RN license (must establish Idaho residency within 6 months if applicable). Must possess a comprehensive knowledge of leadership and supervision as normally obtained through a bachelor’s degree in nursing or health care related field with two years of RN experience in acute care or an equivalent combination of education and experience. At hire, Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross is required. (ACLS and/or PALS may be accepted in lieu of BLS) Why Saint Alphonsus Health System?
