Grade 5 (Hourly) Position Description: The University of Louisville is seeking to hire a Network Services Technician III in the ITS Network and Telecommunication department. The position will install, maintain and repair communications equipment and links providing voice and data services, including wireless technology; provide leadership and supervision on small to medium projects. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Install, repair, and maintain voice, data and video network communications equipment, including phone sets, jacks, etc. Install, terminate and maintain the university’s inter and intra building communications cable facilities. Install, terminate and maintain the university’s fiber optic networking. Utilize complex network test equipment for problem determination. Maintain accurate records for billing and work order closure. Maintain accurate documentation of voice, data and video network connections and wireless technology. Make technical recommendations as needed to supervisor to fulfill service requests. Provide project leadership and supervision for small to medium size projects. Serve as user contact and liaison for problem determination and resolution. Perform other duties as assigned. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Five years of experience in related field Industry certifications desired (CCNA, NET+, MCSA, ICND, CCIE) Ability to prioritize work to meet deadlines Good work ethic and attention to detail Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
