We’re looking for a skilled Contract Web Developer who can deliver high-quality, pixel-perfect sites with clean code, smart functionality, and strong attention to detail. Role Overview As a Contract Web Developer, you’ll work closely with our project managers and design team to build, customize, and maintain client websites. You should be confident handling both front-end and back-end development, with strong experience in Shopify Liquid, WordPress (custom themes + builders), and responsive web design. This is a remote contract position, with the potential for ongoing work depending on performance and project load. Responsibilities Develop and maintain Shopify stores, including custom theme development, Liquid coding, and app integrations. Build and customize WordPress websites, including theme development (from scratch or using builders like Elementor or Gutenberg). Implement responsive, SEO-friendly front-end designs that perform well across devices. Optimize site performance and ensure clean, maintainable code. Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues promptly. Collaborate with the design and strategy teams to translate mockups and wireframes into functional websites. Integrate APIs, third-party tools, and plugins when needed. Provide ongoing technical support and updates for client sites. Maintain version control and organized workflows (GitHub / Bitbucket preferred). Requirements 3+ years of professional experience in web development. Proven expertise with Shopify (Liquid, theme customization, app integration). Strong proficiency with WordPress, including custom themes and plugin configuration. Proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript (and/or jQuery). Experience with responsive design, cross-browser testing, and web accessibility best practices. Understanding of SEO principles and page speed optimization. Familiarity with Git, Figma, and project management tools (e.g. Asana, ClickUp, Trello). Ability to communicate clearly, meet deadlines, and take ownership of projects. Nice to Have Experience with Shopify Hydrogen / React, Headless CMS setups, or API integrations. Knowledge of Liquid schema, JSON templates, and custom app development. Experience with WooCommerce or Shopify Plus. Basic familiarity with PHP, TailwindCSS, or Next.js.
