Company: Aumentar Consulting Location: Corpus Christi, Texas, Prefer onsite for two days 9/17 and 9/18, remote may be considered Contract Type: Short-Term Contract (1 week, urgent) Overview Aumentar Consulting has an urgent need for an experienced AWS Migration Engineer to lead a short-term project migrating an existing Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) server and its applications from a standalone on-premises environment into Amazon Web Services (AWS). This engagement is time-sensitive and requires hands-on expertise in server migration, application compatibility, and cloud deployment best practices. Responsibilities Assess current Red Hat Linux server (applications, file systems, configurations) to prepare for migration. Execute the migration of the standalone server to AWS (EC2-based deployment). Utilize AWS VM Import/Export or other migration tools as appropriate. Ensure compatibility of applications (including COBOL runtime if applicable) in the AWS environment. Document the migration process and provide knowledge transfer to internal staff. Troubleshoot and resolve any issues that arise during migration. Required Qualifications Proven experience migrating Linux servers (preferably RHEL) to AWS. Strong knowledge of AWS EC2, IAM, networking/security groups, and storage options. Experience with VM Import/Export, AMIs, and migration tooling. Familiarity with legacy applications and runtime environments (e.g., COBOL or similar). Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work independently under tight deadlines. Excellent communication skills and ability to provide clear documentation.
