• Monitors swimming area to prevent accidents; provides assistance to swimmers and enforces pool safety rules.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• •    Maintain surveillance of swimming pool and surrounding deck area 

• •    Rescue and administer first aid and CPR as needed

• •    Maintain order in swimming areas

• •    Inspect pool area for cleanliness and safety hazards

• •    Test chlorine or bromine content and pH value of water and add chemicals as needed

• •    Enforce MTA’s swimming pool rules, regulations and policies

• •    Apply Emergency Action Plan when necessary

• •    Set up, break down, and store pool deck and safety equipment upon opening and closing 

• •    Adhere to company memos and safety notices and prepares Accident/Incident reports as necessary

• •    Regular and reliable attendance required

• •    Performs other related duties as assigned 

• Skills/Knowledge: 

• •    Knowledge of lifesaving techniques and methods required

• •    Knowledge of first aid principals and practices required

• •    Must be able to utilize and interpret a chemical testing kit

• Education/Experience: 

• •    High School Diploma preferred

• •    Previous lifeguarding experience preferred

• Certificates and Licenses: 

• •    Must possess current Lifeguard; Standard First Aid and CPR for the Professional Rescuer; and AED certifications. Lifeguard training available through MTA.

Other

• •    Must be available to work weekends
