Summary of Responsibilities
- The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) assists providers with patient care and follow-up providing direct and indirect patient care in a clinical setting. LPN's also promote wellness activities, preventative care and health education under the supervision of the Medical Director. The position works with patients of diverse ages and their families.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in providing triage for call-in appointments and telephone calls.
- Charting and clerical work as necessary to oversee phone prescriptions and refills to pharmacies.
- Assess patients per clinic protocols and document physical assessment findings.
- Administer approved medications or immunizations under the direction of the provider and supervising Medical Director.
- Assist providers as needed.
- Basic wound care including cleaning and bandaging injured areas.
- Maintain inventory of supplies and stocking various areas.
- Audits patient charts.
- Provide quality education and community health education materials.
- Perform other duties as required.
Education and Experience
- Current Oklahoma State LPN License.
- Two years' experience in a physician's office.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of clinic function and ability to work in conjunction with other clinic personnel.
- Knowledge of practical nursing techniques.
- Knowledge of the routine care and treatment of all types of clients.
- Knowledge of proper dosing of medications.
- Skills in preparing and administering medications.
- Skill in adapting to situations involving the interpretation of feelings, ideas or facts in terms of personal viewpoint and patient interaction.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with employees and the public.
- Ability to remain calm and function efficiently in emergency and stressful situations.
Conditions of Employment
- The Iowa Tribe of Oklahoma operates a drug-free workplace.
- Must submit to and pass applicable drug test.
- Must pass background investigations for suitability of character identified in accordance with the Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act.
- Annual TB skin test, proof of previous positive PPD results or negative chest X-ray.
- Hepatitis A & B, Tdap, MMR and Varicella vaccinations, proof of previous vaccinations or proof of positive titer.
