About the Role:
A well-established personal injury and medical malpractice law firm in Livingston, NJ is seeking a bilingual European Portuguese-speaking Legal Assistant to join their team. This is a full-time, on-site position with the potential to transition from temporary to permanent employment.

Schedule:
Monday to Friday
9:00 AM to 5:00 PM

Key Responsibilities:
Answer and direct phone calls professionally
Communicate with clients in both English and European Portuguese
Coordinate depositions and legal appointments
Manage legal calendars, including scheduling appointments, deadlines, and court dates
Prepare, organize, and file legal documents (including electronic filing/e-filing)
Organize, manage, and maintain legal files for accuracy and accessibility
Coordinate court filings to meet deadlines and comply with legal requirements
Utilize case management software to track and update case details
Provide administrative support to attorneys, including preparing correspondence and documentation
Track and manage deadlines to ensure compliance with legal timelines
Communicate effectively with attorneys, clients, and external parties to facilitate case progress
Implement organizational systems to streamline legal processes and improve efficiency

Qualifications:
Must have prior experience working in a law firm, preferably in personal injury or medical malpractice
Fluency in European Portuguese and English (written and spoken)
Strong organizational and communication skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and legal case management software
Ability to work independently and handle sensitive information with discretion
