About

Description: I am looking for a senior WordPress developer to migrate my existing Joomla 3.x site to a new WordPress installation and redesign it with a "Quiet Luxury / Private Equity" aesthetic (clean, minimalist, serif fonts, similar to Goldman Sachs). Current State: Platform: Joomla 3.x (Hosted on GoDaddy). Status: Site is live and functioning on PHP 7.4 (manually set). Safety: I have a full .zip backup of the files and database. Note: The old site has a corrupted template folder (beez3), but the core data is intact. The Project: Migration: Set up a staging environment (do NOT work on the live site). Migrate all Articles, Images, and user data from Joomla to WordPress. Critical: Preserve all SEO URLs (301 redirects) so I don't lose my history. Design & Build: Vibe: "Goldman Sachs meets Boutique Real Estate." Cream backgrounds, high-end Typography (Serif headings), minimalist layout. No cluttered "standard realtor" templates. Tools: Build using Elementor Pro or Bricks so I can easily edit text and listings later. Listings: Create a simple "Listings" custom post type so I can easily add new properties (Photos, Price, Description, PDF Brochure) from the backend. Launch: Move the new WordPress site to the live domain. Ensure SSL is working and site speed is optimized. Requirements: Proven experience with Joomla to WordPress migrations (please share examples). Eye for high-end, corporate design (not just generic templates). Must be willing to work on a staging server first. Budget: $1,500 - $2,500 (Fixed Price) 4. How to Vet Them (The "BS Detector") When you get applicants, ask them this one question to verify they know what they are doing: "My current Joomla site is stuck on PHP 7.4 because of old code. How will you handle the server environment when you install the new WordPress site?" The Wrong Answer: "I will just update PHP to 8.2 immediately." (This crashes your old site before the new one is ready). The Right Answer: "I will build the new WordPress site on a separate staging server (or sub-domain) running PHP 8.x. We will keep your live site on PHP 7.4 until the very moment we swap them, then we update the server." 5. For the Design (The "Goldman" Look) To get that specific look, tell the designer you want to use a "Typography-First" approach. Fonts: Ask for "Playfair Display" (Headings) and "Lato" or "Inter" (Body text). Colors: Cream/Off-White (#F9F6F0) background with Deep Navy (#0C1446) or Charcoal text. Theme: Suggest they use the "Hello Elementor" theme (which is blank) and build it custom, rather than trying to hack a messy Real Estate theme like "Houzez" which is often too cluttered for Private Equity.
