Job Description The Item Processing/Check Servicing Supervisor is responsible for the overall day-to-day operational functions and administration of the Branch Capture and Check Servicing areas. This includes but is not limited to the processing of Branch Capture and Inclearing batches and the cash letter remittance for these; the initial processing of international check requests; overseeing the operational functions in the Check Servicing area of Northwest which includes overdraft decisioning, check returns processing, check and transaction adjustments, Operations posting requests, charged-off account processing and affidavits of forgery. This position is responsible for the reconciliation of GL or DDA accounts assigned to departments as well as providing department training and support. This position may require evening/weekend hours/shifts. Essential Functions • Prepare departmental reports and analysis • Monitor and update department operation processes • Identify and resolve Customer Service issues • Manage staff by approving work schedules and timecards and completing performance evaluations • Provide leadership, guidance, and support to Branch Capture and Check Servicing staff regarding issues and/or procedural changes • Provide excellent customer and business unit support service • Maintain appropriate departmental records and reports • Perform product and service development related tasks • Interact with other business units within Northwest • Prepare education and training materials • Liaise as required with all appropriate vendors and/or business partners • Develop/enhance operations process integrity • Ensure all processes are being followed correctly by Branch Capture and Check Servicing • Perform quality checks of departmental work • Oversee training and development (cross training) of employees • Additional duties include analyzing reports, developing and maintaining production reports and provide training and support to retail branch offices • Develop and manage working relationships with Internal Bank employees to analyze problem situations as they arise and involve the appropriate level of management, as needed • Serve as a resource and content expert to team members; providing them with guidance and being available to answer questions to clarify the work activities • Build, verify, and transmit all image cash letters and all proof of deposit posting files • Ensure all End of Day processes are completed • Ensure that production and quality standards are met, while maintaining optimum efficiency • Recommend improvements to procedures and staffing metrics • Recommend service and delivery enhancements • Recommend product enhancements • Minimize departmental non-payroll costs • Suggest improvements to Quality Control Additional Essential Functions Essential Functions • Ensure compliance with Northwest’s policies and procedures, and Federal/State regulations • Navigate Microsoft Office Software, computer applications, and software specific to the department in order to maximize technology tools and gain efficiency • Work as part of a team • Work with on-site equipment Additional Responsibilities • Complete other duties and special projects as requested by management Safety and Health for Supervisors with Direct Reports • Provide leadership and positive direction for maintaining the safety and loss prevention program • Actively participate in and support employee participation in the safety and loss prevention program by ensuring that employees know how to properly report a safety issue, making sure that all accidents are promptly reported to Human Resources and documented, and ensuring that prompt action is taken whenever workplace hazards are identified • Help implement emergency procedures QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
