Summary:
The ACIC Insurance Trainee program is geared for recent college graduates. This nine-month program is focused on building basic ACIC business acumen by shadowing in multiple departments, The applicant will develop valuable skills and knowledge throughout the designated training period to ultimately identify a position in Claims, Underwriting or IT, that most closely aligns with applicant’s interests and aptitude while mutually benefiting Atlantic Casualty.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Learn all aspects of claims support and adjusting team functions.
- Develop basic understanding of accounting current cash applications.
- Learn various coverage options and shadow underwriters to assist in decision-making process.
- Shadow marketing team to develop understanding of agency relationships and books of business.
- Gain understanding of how various roles within Information Technology support the company’s mission and goals.
- Broaden perspective on the role each department plays in overall organizational effectiveness.
Required Education/Experience:
Basic
- Minimum two-year degree required; four-year degree preferred – obtained within last two years; risk management or insurance major a plus.
- Exceptional time management skills.
- Ability to multi-task is essential.
- Capable of working well independently

- Microsoft Office
Advanced
- Solid written and verbal communication skills are required to interact competently with internal and external customers.
- Must be capable of logical and creative reasoning and be able to apply those skills in any situation.
- Solid problem-solving skills are essential. Must demonstrate the initiative to seek clarification as issues arise.
- The position requires collecting, compiling, and organizing facts and figures in accordance with established procedures.
- The incumbent has some latitude in decision-making by setting priorities and / or making decisions based on established procedures and policies. Guidance is readily available, and work may be checked for accuracy and completeness.
- The incumbent deals with information that is considered personal and confidential, and its disclosure would be detrimental to Atlantic Casualty Insurance Company.
Mental Requirements:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions in written or diagram form. Reasoning; dealing with problems involving a few variables in standard situations.
