SUMMARY Supports the Infection Prevention Program for the assigned organization; serves as a liaison to all assigned organization departments/services. Develops and assists in the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to infection prevention. Advises on and facilitates appropriate allocation of hospital resources in order to maintain quality patient care. STATUS: LOCATION: DEPARTMENT: Infection Prevention SCHEDULE: ATTRIBUTES Strong analytical, computer and communication skills Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills CIC certification within 2 years of hire Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of relevant work experience (eg: nursing, clinical, public health) RESPONSIBILITIES Conducts surveillance for HAI’s hospital onset and community acquired infections among patients and staff as appropriate for setting. Analyzes, interprets, and reports data to the Associate Director of Infection Prevention or Senior Director of Infection Prevention as appropriate, and to other appropriate departments or personnel (hospital and/or health departments) Monitors and evaluates patient care activities to identify methods, techniques, equipment, supplies, new products or specific procedures which may constitute an infection risk. Proactively identifies key risks and researches and analyzes alternatives as part of risk assessment process. Investigates clusters of infection in collaboration with Infectious Disease Physician and Senior Director of Infection Prevention or Associate Director. Leads projects to reduce infections. Leads development, review, and revision of infection prevention policies, using current standards of practice. Notifies state or county health departments of specific communicable diseases as required by health department in accordance with RRH protocol. Collect and enter data necessary for NHSN data reporting and other databases used in Infection Prevention. Leads development and provision of in-service programs related to Infection Prevention for the organization/departments/services for assigned organization. Serves as a consultant regarding Infection Prevention issues and policies as appropriate. Supports educational activities for Infection Prevention Liaison Committee. Participates in assigned organization-based committees as appropriate Available for urgent/emergent phone consultation per schedule during off hours and weekends. Prepares summary data for assigned units or departments and relays key measures, concerns, and prevention strategies. EDUCATION: LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS: PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: S - Sedentary Work - Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. PAY RANGE: $80,000.00 - $102,000.00 CITY: Newark POSTAL CODE: 14513 The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components.
