About
Scope of Work 1. External Industrial Design • Form development, ergonomics, proportions • Early concept sketches (2–3 directions) • Refinement of the selected direction • CMF suggestions (colours, materials, finish) 2. Internal Mechanical Architecture You must be able to design and engineer: • PCB placement + mechanical clearances • Battery housing + retention • Buttons & mechanical travel • Speaker/mic openings + cavities • Wireless module spacing + antenna keep-out zones • Supports, bosses, posts, screw pillars • Internal structure that aligns with electronics • Snap fits, clips, locking features • Lip & groove sealing • Wall thickness + draft angles • Component stack-up • Assembly strategy • Exploded views + BOM 3. Manufacturability (DFM) • Injection molding constraints • Tolerances, shrinkage considerations • Undercut management and mold-ready details • Design ready for manufacturer review 4. Deliverables • Fully engineered 3D CAD assembly (STEP + native files) • External ID surfaces + internal mechanical structure • Exploded views • Photorealistic product renders • Technical drawings for manufacturing • DFM compliant geometry • Weekly updates (written summaries preferred) What We Are Looking For Required Experience • 7+ years industrial design AND/OR mechanical engineering for consumer electronics • Experience with injection-molded enclosures • Experience designing handheld devices (remotes, controllers, gadgets, IoT devices, etc.) • Ability to integrate electronics into mechanical design • Strong understanding of PCB constraints, antenna spacing, and internal fit • Portfolio showing relevant past work (not just furniture or logos) Software • SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Creo, Rhino, or equivalent • Ability to export STEP files Additional Notes • NDA signing is required before sharing the full product description. • We prefer a designer/engineer who can work independently without needing a separate electronics engineer to guide the mechanical architecture. • If you have an electronics partner you usually work with, mention it (optional but welcome).
