Provides oversight and general nursing care and services to persons with disabilities in residential homes, vocational centers and or schools. Responsible for all nursing functions at a single business location. Relies on knowledge, experience, and judgment with limited direction and supervision to accomplish responsibilities. Salary: Depending on experience Hours: Monday - Friday, 8a - 5p REPORTS TO: Regional Nursing Director SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position has no supervisory responsibilities. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide holistic nursing care to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Observe, assess, and evaluate the health needs of the people we support. Coordinate preventative and routine medical care for people supported. Document nursing care provided. Provide clinical supervision or oversight for licensed practical nurses and med techs as deemed necessary. Assist with educational and training programs for new employees to include planning, conducting, and scheduling in a timely manner. Promote continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices. Assist physicians with on-site medical clinics where applicable. Provide health related training to unlicensed personnel. Teach medication administration training to unlicensed personnel when state law allows. Conduct medication pass observations in the home to ensure staff competency. Complete skill competency checklists on delegated healthcare tasks Teach the people we serve to monitor their health. Provide medication administration training to people who are able to self-administer medications. Audits medication administration Conduct medication closest assessments. Perform quality assurance checks and observations to ensure unlicensed personnel are performing health related tasks as assigned. Conduct routine nursing assessments. Observe and report any abnormal health related findings to the physician. Communicate with physicians, pharmacies, medical suppliers, and the Interdisciplinary Team Advocate for the people supported and assist with developing community supports to promote optimal health for the people supported. #HPNURSE MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from an accredited registered nurse program BSN preferred, but not required. Current registered nurse license with no restrictions to practice nursing. Possess credentials required by Federal or State law Must be able to communicate effectively with Interdisciplinary Team Members, as well as the people supported and their families. Must be able to work independently, be organized, and possess the ability to prioritize work tasks. Current CPR Certification or eligibility to obtain certification. Must be at least 18 years of age PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT: Regularly required to lift 30 lbs. Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. Must be able to pull a minimum of 30 lbs. Must be able to squat, kneel, crawl, crouch, climb, and stoop. Must be able to regularly use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. Required to regularly stand and walk. Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in CPR from the floor level requiring to work on hands, knees, bending, standing and lifting. Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision. Must be able to talk and hear.
