Organization: PMI Renal Job Summary: A Histotechnologist Clinical is needed to join a dynamic team of clinical laboratory staff professionals. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a great team environment to ensure prompt turnaround of renal specimens from in-house cases as well as consult cases from outside hospitals. Prepares tissue specimens for microscopic examinations and handles the more specialized histo- and immunocyto-chemistry testing within the Dept of Anatomic Pathology with some guidance; maintains adequate quality control data. Processes specimens for molecular testing. Troubleshoots processes as needed. Responsible for high volume workload and stat requests. REQUIRED: • Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent experience) • ASCP Certification (at time of hire) • > 1 year of experience This position will work at the VUMC main camps in the North Tower, and you will work an 8-hour shift with a flexible start time within the hours of 7 AM & 10 AM with the expectation of participating in on-call weekend rotation following your introductory period. . DEPARTMENT SUMMARY: The Department of Pathology, Microbiology and Immunology at Vanderbilt has a long and rich history of excellence in teaching, clinical service, and research. The Vanderbilt University Pathology Residency Training Program is accredited to offer four years of education and training in combined Anatomic and Clinical Pathology (APCP4), four years of education and training in combined Anatomic Pathology and Neuropathology (APNP4), three years of education and training in Anatomic Pathology (AP3) or three years of training in Clinical Pathology (CP3). Key Responsibilities: •· Completes daily workload as assigned to include embedding, cutting, staining (including histo and immunocytochemical procedures) and any specific procedures requested by pathologist to support patient diagnosis. · Performs and documents instrument maintenance; maintains records relating to quality control and other functions. · Grossly identify tissue for adequacy, communicate to Attending/Fellow, divide core and place in appropriate fixatives. · The responsibilities listed are a general overview of the position and additional duties may be assigned.
