Job Summary
- A Grinding Machine Technician is responsible for abrasive machining processes of parts according to the specifications of blueprints and process sheets.
Summary of essential job functions
- Measures parts using basic measuring devices (micrometers, calipers, and comparators)
- Performs daily maintenance
- Performs in process checks on workpieces and makes necessary offset adjustments
- Show competence in the use of the specified equipment or machinery as signed off on training reports.
- Possesses good visual quality judgment (for in-process inspection)
- Loads and unloads parts or material
- Requirements
Minimum requirements
- High school education or equivalent
- Basic math skills
- Problem solving skills
- Mechanical and technical skills
Abilities required
- Effectively interact and communicate between departments and across various levels of management and employees
- Reliable and consistent attendance
- Highly attentive to detail
- Able to stay focused for extended periods of time
- The ability to read and follow a drawing and process sheet instructions
- Able to measure parts using basic measuring devices
- Able to perform tasks on machinery in a safe manner and use equipment in a safe manner
- Able to set up and operate equipment
- Able to make offset adjustments
- Able to input and export programs
- Able to read, understand, and update set -up and process sheets as applicable
- Ability to stand or walk for extended periods of time.
- Ability to lift and carry materials or tools weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to wear PPE including safety glasses, gloves and ear protection as required for safety in the grinding department.
