About
We are seeking experienced Geospatial Specialists to assist in Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) processes, as well as feature extraction using ENVI and ArcGIS. Proficiency in Python and ArcPy is a plus. The ideal candidates will have a strong background in geospatial analysis and data processing, with an ability to work collaboratively and meet deadlines. If you have a keen eye for detail and the necessary technical skills, we would love to hear from you. Project Overview The scope includes high-resolution orthophotography (aerial imagery corrected for map accuracy), oblique imagery (angled views), LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) point clouds and Digital Surface Models (DSMs), planimetric feature extraction, and change detection against the 2016 baseline. We use a hybrid QA/QC (Quality Assurance/Quality Control) workflow: automation in ENVI (Environment for Visualizing Images) + manual review in ArcGIS (Geographic Information System software by Esri). Deliverables integrate with ArcGIS Pro 3.3 and ArcGIS Enterprise 11.3. Looking for specialists who can contribute to one or more of the following: GIS QA/QC Analysts Inspect orthophotos and LiDAR-derived surfaces; document errors; validate accuracy (RMSE – Root Mean Square Error). Produce acceptance evidence aligned to milestones D1–D6. Nice to have: Python for automated QC summaries (pandas/geopandas). Remote Sensing Specialists (ENVI) Build ENVI workflows for object-based image analysis (OBIA) and automated change detection. Package the ENVI project files and logs for audit purposes. Strong plus: ENVI + Python/IDL bridge for batch processing. Planimetric Technicians Digitize and clean buildings (≥8 m²), pools, tanks, towers, billboards, fences/walls. Manual cleanup to achieve ≥98% completeness; apply business rules (duplex ownership splits, rooftop tanks, exclude temporary pools/canopies). LiDAR Data Specialists Classify LiDAR point clouds; validate DSMs; cross-check rooftop/tower elevations. Huge plus: LiDAR feature extraction and delta detection vs. prior collection datasets (e.g., 2016 baseline), ideally for statewide or territorial mapping projects. Familiarity with the USGS LiDAR Base Specification v2.1 (United States Geological Survey) is desirable. GIS Data Integration Specialists Build Esri File Geodatabases (FGDB) and schemas; integrate ENVI/LiDAR outputs into ArcGIS deliverables. Generate municipality-level roll-ups, ISO 19115 metadata, and service-ready layers for ArcGIS Enterprise. Plus: ArcPy (ArcGIS Python library) for batch geoprocessing and schema exports. Qualifications Proficiency with ArcGIS Pro/Enterprise and/or ENVI. Experience with feature extraction, data QA/QC, and geospatial data cleanup. Knowledge of ISO 19115 (geospatial metadata). Familiarity with USGS LiDAR Base Specification v2.1. Strong plus: Python (and ArcPy), ENVI scripting (Python/IDL), automation of QC/change detection, and LiDAR feature extraction & delta detection vs. 2016 at statewide/territorial scale. ASPRS (American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing) certifications—CP (Certified Photogrammetrist), CMS (Certified Mapping Scientist), GISP (Geographic Information Systems Professional)—are desirable. Potential multi-phase engagement (approx. 30 weeks, milestone-driven). Deliverables Feature-rich FGDB layers (Esri File Geodatabases) QC reports and milestone D1–D6 acceptance checklists ISO 19115 metadata packages Training materials and ENVI project artifacts
