Description of Work This posting is for a General Utility Worker position in the Davie County Equipment Shop. Responsibility include a variety of manual tasks in the upkeep of the Department’s standards, such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, removing trash, cleaning windows, cleaning restrooms, yard maintenance, washing equipment, light mechanical repairs, and assisting Vehicle/Equipment Repair Technicians in various projects, picking up parts, and performing other related duties as required. Position requires work during any adverse weather such as snow and/or ice, tornadoes, hurricanes, etc., which can lead to working extended daily hours, weekends, and holidays. Ability to perform duties of position in accordance with all safety regulations; prepare and maintain paperwork essential to employment, equipment repair, inventory, and service records; understand both written and oral instructions; move parts and material necessary to repair and maintain equipment; and safely operate equipment for testing purposes. Ability to demonstrate commitment to providing a safe working environment by leading by example. Ability to read and interpret Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) manuals. Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences Salary Grade and Salary Range: NC01:$26,851 - $46,991 Management prefers applicants with the following: Experience using small hand tools such as shovels, rakes, brooms, post hole diggers, hammers, screwdrivers, torches, etc. Experience operating power tools such as lawn mowers, hand trimmers, air compressors, chainsaws, weed eaters, skill saws, drills, etc. Experience performing manual labor. Additional Expectations: The selected applicant will be expected to legally operate a motor vehicle. Safety-toed shoes required.
