  • JOB SUMMARY
  • The Film Technician & Programmer is responsible for booking and negotiating the film lineup with vendors, coordinating Theatre scheduling with the Special Events Manager, and organizing film series along with themed and community events. The Film Technician & Programmer will train and supervise the projectionist staff, including onboarding and providing input for performance evaluations. This position operates the projection equipment, manages technological systems (sound, video, and lighting), and provides assistance with restaurant operations as needed.
  • We are looking for individuals with knowledge of lighting, sound, and stage rigging equipment. We are seeking individuals knowledgeable in lighting, sound, and stage rigging equipment, and experience with audio and video systems. A strong understanding of film history, genres, and cinema is essential. Preference will be given to candidates holding certificates or degrees in theatre, arts, film curation, or related studies.   • ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Duties & Responsibilities
  • Curate film selections for regular screenings, festivals, and special events, focusing on local, second-run, and art-house genres and styles.
  • Operate and monitor film and theatre equipment.
  • Work closely with the Special Events Manager to coordinate Theatre scheduling.
  • Train and oversee projectionist staff, including onboarding and providing input for evaluations.
  • Operate projection equipment, ingesting and formatting films.
  • Operate and manage technological equipment, including sound systems, video equipment, audio equipment, lighting, and staging.
  • Research and evaluate trends and new programming ideas. Review institutional data to help inform and direct programming.
  • Collaborate with the Art Department to create promotional materials and campaigns for upcoming films and events.
  • Coordinate and schedule fundraising film events.
  • Follow all safety regulations and report equipment issues and malfunctions to management immediately.
  • Assist with restaurant operations as needed.

  • Passion for film and a commitment to fostering community engagement through the arts.
  • Able to operate video equipment (HDMI extenders, 4x4 matrix).
  • Able to operate audio equipment (Cinema audio processor, amplifiers, London Soundweb)
  • Able to operate projection equipment (Christie Series 2 projector, IMS3000)
  • Able to operate lighting, staging, and blocking equipment (light board, PAR lamps, DMX)
  • Able to perform sound checks and monitor and maintain sound systems and equipment (A-Chains, B-Chains, PA system, audio mixer, microphones).
  • Perform technical aspects, support, and troubleshooting (letterboxing, pillarboxing, RGB, YCbCr, 4:4:4, 4:2:2, HFR, 3D, 2D, foot lamberts, masking, polarization).
  • Proficient in using Google Office Suite and digital tools for scheduling and database management.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting and problem-solving, calm under pressure.
  • Able to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and good judgment.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Self-motivation and the ability to manage time and accomplish tasks with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Physical ability to lift and move heavy equipment.
  • Able to reach, stoop, climb, bend, and crouch.
