- Naik Consulting Group is currently seeking a Field Survey Technician (Instrument operator or Rod Person) in our Manhattan, New York Office for our Land Surveying Department. Naik is a New York-New Jersey engineering services firm which specializes in engineering design, field inspection, and Project Management/Construction Management, primarily in the transportation infrastructure industry.
- Responsibilities
- Perform field surveys including boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS, construction layout, and as-builts
- Operate GPS, robotic total stations, levels, and data collectors (Trimble, Leica, Topcon, etc.)
- Interpret construction and engineering plans for layout and data collection
- Set up and break down equipment daily, ensuring safe operation and transportation
- Maintain clear, accurate field notes and electronic data
- Communicate effectively with survey crews, office staff, and clients as needed
- Adhere to company safety standards and project-specific protocols
- Assist with maintaining and calibrating survey equipment
- Qualifications
- 1+ years of field surveying experience (or related construction experience with a willingness to train)
- Familiarity with GPS and total station surveying methods
- Ability to work outdoors in varying field conditions
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Ability of lifting and carrying 30+ lbs. as needed
- Ability to learn and use field survey computer software
- Strong attention to detail, reliability, and teamwork
Preferred
- Experience with Trimble, Leica, or Topcon survey equipment
- Understanding of construction staking and site layout procedures
- OSHA 10 or 30 certification
- Knowledge of local survey and construction practices
- High school diploma or GED; technical training in surveying a plus
