  • We provide you with a professionally furnished office and all the necessary resources—you simply show up! You set your schedule, working a minimum of 6 client hours per week (or as many as you want) to build a primary or supplemental income stream.   • Alternative Wellness Services is seeking collaborative clinicians to provide vital, short-term services primarily for individuals navigating the justice system due to OUI (Operating Under the Influence) convictions. We are deeply committed to ensuring these individuals receive accurate, timely assessments and effective brief interventions, rooted in strengths-based and recovery-oriented care.
  • This Fee-for-Service role focuses on high-impact, short-term service delivery, including one-time court assessments and mandated DEEP services. You will be instrumental in providing comprehensive clinical assessments and guiding clients through critical stages of mandated change.

What You'll Do (The Impact)

  • Specialized Caseload: Focus primarily on DEEP evaluations and individual DEEP treatment sessions for clients fulfilling obligations due to OUI convictions.
  • Conduct comprehensive one-time court assessments and detailed intake assessments.
  • Provide short-term individual therapy/counseling sessions, utilizing trauma-informed and harm reduction approaches tailored to individuals with substance use experience.
  • Develop and revise individualized treatment plans focused on immediate intervention and risk reduction.
  • Ensure timely and accurate clinical documentation and compliance with all program and state guidelines.
  • Actively collaborate with internal teams and external providers to ensure seamless, coordinated client care.
  • Requirements

Who We're Looking For (The Essentials)

  • Master's degree in Social Work or Counseling, preferred.

Licensure & Professional Standing

  • Current Maine license as a LMSW-CC, LCPC-C, LCPC, or LCSW is required.
  • We will also consider a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) with relevant experience and a commitment to engaging in ongoing supervision.
  • Must have no active complaints with your professional board or documented malpractice claims.

Location & Work Environment

  • Must be a current Maine Resident or have the ability to reliably commute to and from our offices weekly.
  • Ability to work primarily in our professionally furnished office, with some limited telehealth options available based on client needs.

Expertise & Mindset

  • Demonstrated expertise in assessment, short-term intervention, recovery-oriented services, trauma-informed care, motivational interviewing, harm reduction, and co-occurring disorders.
