About
We are seeking an experienced documentary-style video editor to join our team for a new project within a larger global campaign. The project features a well-known public figure and explores themes of family, heritage, and identity. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in documentary editing and a keen eye for storytelling. This is a documentary-style video for a larger campaign about family history and heritage. The series highlights prominent figures from around the world, exploring how their genealogy and family roots have shaped who they are. The campaign promotes FamilySearch and RootsTech, the annual family history conference organized by FamilySearch. The final video will be about 15–18 minutes long, with several shorter cutdowns planned afterward. We’re looking to start ASAP, beginning with the initial rough cut. Editing will be in Adobe Premiere Pro, and I’ll provide a project file with proxies already synced with external audio and multi-camera footage. I’ll be involved throughout as post-production supervisor and secondary editor if needed, handling client communication, color grading, sound mixing, and final deliverables. Strong project file organization is important since I’ll be using your project for finishing once the main cut is in place. The first step will be distilling the roughly hour-long interview into a 20–25 minute rough cut, finding the best story structure. I’ll provide more detailed notes and guidance once you’re ready to start. If this sounds like a good fit, I’d love to hear about your availability this week so we can discuss next steps.
