About This Role We're seeking an experienced bookkeeper with strong SaaS accounting expertise to provide quality assurance for our AI-powered financial platform. You'll review and verify automated reconciliations, ensure proper revenue recognition, and validate prepaid expense treatments during customer onboarding. What You'll Do AI Reconciliation Review: - Review automated transaction reconciliations performed by our AI system - Verify categorizations against customer-specific charts of accounts - Correct any misclassified transactions or inappropriate category assignments - Ensure all imported transactions follow proper SaaS accounting standards - Flag any unusual patterns or questionable transactions for internal review SaaS Revenue Recognition Review: - Review and validate journal entries for subscription revenue recognition - Ensure proper monthly recurring revenue (MRR) calculations and deferrals - Verify annual subscription revenue is properly spread across contract periods - Review setup fees, implementation fees, and other one-time revenue items - Validate deferred revenue balances and monthly recognition entries Prepaid Expense Management: - Review and categorize prepaid expense transactions - Ensure proper amortization schedules are established - Validate monthly prepaid expense recognition entries - Monitor prepaid balances for accuracy and proper timing Data Quality Assurance: - Import and organize 2+ years of historical bank and credit card transaction data via Plaid - Import and categorize Stripe subscription transaction history - Ensure data accuracy and completeness during the import process - Maintain consistency in categorization across different transaction types - Document any recurring categorization patterns for AI training improvement What We're Looking For Required Experience: - 3+ years hands-on bookkeeping experience with SaaS companies - Expert knowledge of subscription billing cycles and revenue deferrals - Experience with prepaid expense accounting and amortization - Proficiency in QuickBooks, Xero, or other modern accounting platforms - Experience working with Stripe and subscription payment processors Preferred Skills: - Previous experience with SaaS metrics (MRR, ARR, churn, CLTV) - Understanding of deferred revenue and contract liabilities - Experience reviewing automated bookkeeping outputs - Familiarity with SaaS billing platforms (Stripe) - Knowledge of accrual accounting principles and month-end close procedures - Strong understanding of SaaS revenue recognition principles (ASC 606) Personal Qualities: - Extremely detail-oriented with high accuracy standards - Strong understanding of SaaS business model complexities - Able to work independently with minimal supervision - Comfortable working with technology and learning new platforms - Methodical approach to revenue recognition and prepaid expense reviews Project Details - Duration: Ongoing project basis (1-2 weeks per customer setup) - Volume: 5-10 SaaS customer setups per month initially, scaling with demand - Schedule: Flexible hours, no customer interaction required - Work Style: 100% behind-the-scenes, focus on SaaS accounting accuracy - Growth Opportunity: High-performing contractors may be invited to join our team full-time Application Requirements Please include in your proposal: - Your experience with SaaS revenue recognition and subscription accounting - Your approach to ensuring accurate monthly recurring revenue calculations - Experience working with automated/AI bookkeeping tools (if any) - Hourly rate expectations To ensure you've read this carefully, please start your proposal with "Ready for SaaS review work."
